Thomas Burton O'Connor
Tom O'Connor (July 28, 1914 – July 24, 1952) was an American journalist & editor. He wrote for the ''Harvard Journal'', ''Los Angeles Daily News'', New York '' PM'', and the New York Daily Compass. He was among the first television anchors on CBS. In 1952, he was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee. He died of a sudden heart attack two months after testifying before HUAC. Tom O'Connor (Gaelic Footballer)
Thomas O'Connor (3 November 1918 – 26 February 1997) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Dingle GAA club and was an All-Ireland Championship-winning captain with the Kerry senior football team. Playing career Born in Dingle, O'Connor first enjoyed footballing success at provincial level as a student with Dingle CBS. He progressed to inter-county level as captain of the Kerry minor football team that lost to Louth in the 1936 All-Ireland final. O'Connor was a late addition to the Kerry senior team the following year and claimed his first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal after coming on as a substitute in the replay defeat of Cavan. He claimed a second All-Ireland winners' medal as Kerry's team captain in the 1939 All-Ireland championship, the first of three successive final victories. Thomas James O'Connor (born 21 April 1999) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a defender and midfielder for club Wrexham. Club career Born in Kilkenny, O'Connor first joined the Southampton academy in 2015. He was contracted to the club until June 2021 having signed a two-year contract extension in January 2019. On 29 August 2019 O'Connor signed for League One side Gillingham on loan until January 2020. He made his debut for the club two days later in a 5–0 league win over Bolton Wanderers. Tom O'Connor is an Irish local historian. A native of Kiltullagh, Athenry, County Galway, O'Connor has spent almost 50 years researching the history and geopolitics of Iron Age Ireland, notably early Connacht. His books, ''Turoe & Athenry: Ancient Capitals of Celtic Ireland'' and ''Hand of History, Burden of Pseudo-History'', present a Celtic royal complex, unprecedented in Ireland for its size and layout, but similar to Belgic centres of power, called oppida by Julius Caesar, in SE England and on the Continent, centered on Turoe in County Galway, site of the famous Turoe stone. Among the finest example of La Tene Celtic stone art in Europe, the stone was set on Turoe hill (Cnoc Temhro). Thomas O'Connor (1819 – October 16, 1887) was an Irish rancher and landowner from County Wexford, Ireland whose estate was reportedly the largest individual land and cattle holding in Texas at the time of his death. Life O'Connor was born in County Wexford, Ireland. In 1834, he sailed with his uncle James Power, who was an empresario, to Texas. Given Power's diplomatic status, the newly formed independent Republic of Mexico granted them access to the country's unpopulated northern lands. On September 28, 1834, the Mexican government granted O'Connor 4,428 acres as a "settler in the Power and Hewetson colony". O'Connor used the property to make saddletrees. The following year the Texas Revolution broke out. O'Connor was among the first to reinforce Presidio La Bahía, joining the volunteer regiment commanded by Philip Dimmitt.
