He was a delegate to the Stamp Act Congress of 1765 and the Continental Congress from 1774 to 1776, and signed the 1774 Continental Association. Political career Lynch was born in St. James Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina, in 1727. He served in the Colonial Legislature of South Carolina and represented the colony in the Stamp Act Congress, heading the committee which drafted the petition to the House of Commons. Thomas Kerr Lynch
Thomas Kerr Lynch (1818–1891) was an Irish explorer. A younger brother of Henry Blosse Lynch (born 1807), Thomas was born at Partry House, Ballinrobe (then in County Galway but now in County Mayo) to Major Henry Blosse Lynch (1778–1823). The major had served in the 73rd Regiment and had an estate of fifteen hundred acres north of Ballinrobe. The Lynch family were one of The Tribes of Galway, been descended from Sir Henry Lynch, 1st Baronet who died in 1635. In 1837 he joined his brother Henry, who commanded an expedition up the river Tigris to Baghdad, a previously unaccomplished voyage. Thomas went on to establish a steamer service on the Tigris linking Baghdad with India. In the 1850s, Thomas, who had by then travelled extensively throughout Mesopotamia and Persia, was appointed Consul-General for Persia in London. Thomas Lynch (psychiatrist)
Professor Thomas Lynch (17 November 1922 – 6 January 2005) was the first Professor of Psychiatry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). He was also the first to develop a psychiatric unit in a general hospital in the Republic of Ireland. He was a founding member of the Mental Health Association of Ireland (now Mental Health Ireland) in 1966 and served on a number of boards including The National Drugs Advisory Board, The National Rehabilitation Board, the Central Remedial Clinic and the Eastern Health Board. Thomas Lynch (poet)
Thomas Lynch (born 1948 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American poet, essayist, and undertaker. Early life Lynch was educated by nuns and Christian Brothers at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Lynch then went to university and mortuary school, from which he graduated in 1973. He took over his father's funeral home in Milford, Michigan in 1974, a job he has held ever since. Lynch married in 1972 and divorced in 1984. He later remarried to Mary Tata in 1991. He has a daughter and three sons. In 1970 Lynch went to Ireland for the first time, to find his family and read William Butler Yeats and James Joyce, an experience he recounts in his book ''Booking Passage: We Irish and Americans''. He has returned many times since then, and now owns the small cottage in West Clare that was the home of his great-great-grandfather, and which was given as a wedding gift in the 19th century. Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991. After Marshall, Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Court and its longest-serving member since Anthony Kennedy's retirement in 2018. Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia. After his father abandoned the family, he was raised by his grandfather in a poor Gullah community near Savannah. Growing up as a devout Catholic, Thomas originally intended to be a priest in the Catholic Church but was frustrated over the church's insufficient attempts to combat racism. Thomas Charles Lynch (born April 7, 1942) is a retired rear admiral in the United States Navy. He was Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland from June 15, 1991 to August 1, 1994. Early life Born in Lima, Ohio, the son of Rodney and Marie Lynch, he is a 1964 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He played football there, lettering three times and captaining the 1963 team. He also was involved in boxing. Career Lynch also held the command of the Eisenhower Battle Group during the course of Operation Desert Shield, and chief of Navy Legislative Affairs.
