Tom Hodgson
Thomas Hodgson (June 5, 1924 – February 27, 2006) was a Canadian sprint canoer who competed in the 1950s, and also one of the acclaimed Canadian artists known as Painters Eleven. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he earned his best finish of eighth in the C-2 1000 m event at Helsinki in 1952. Career Prior to the Olympics, Hodgson served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He started painting as a child. Hodgson began working in advertising from 1948 to 1967 but at the same time, experimented as an artist, making watercolours and joining art societies such as the Ontario Society of Artists, the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, the Canadian Group of Painters and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. Thomas Hodgson (priest)
Thomas Hodgson was a priest of the Church of England. He was the Archdeacon of Huntingdon from 1915 to 1921. Hodgson was educated at Durham University and ordained in 1878. At Durham, Hodgson was a member of Hatfield Hall and won university prizes in both Theology and Hebrew. His first post was as a curate at St Andrew, Bishop Auckland after which he was an assistant master at St George's School, Brampton and then Head Master at Huntingdon Grammar School. He was Rector of Eynesbury from 1890 until 1912 when he became Vicar of St Neots. He died on 28 September 1921.The Times ''The Times'' is a British daily national newspaper based in London. Thomas Vere Hodgson
Thomas Vere Hodgson (1864–1926) was a biologist aboard H.M.S. ''Discovery'' during the ''Discovery'' Expedition of 1901–1904, known by the nickname ''Muggins''. He pursued his interest in marine biology initially in his spare time, but eventually found work at the Marine Biological Association in Plymouth. He worked on the collections from the ''Southern Cross'' Expedition, before joining the Discovery expedition as one of its oldest members, at 37. The post of naturalist had previously been offered to William Speirs Bruce, who declined, preferring to travel on the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition. Hodgson's work on the ''Discovery'' provided the first descriptions of deep sea floor communities in the Antarctic. Hodgson was reappointed curator of the Plymouth Museum on his return and went on to study the collections from the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition of 1902–1904. He died in May 1926.
