Thomas Henry Goode
Thomas Henry Goode (25 November 1933 – 28 May 1994) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Burnaby, British Columbia and became a builder, developer and teacher by career. Goode attended the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Teacher Training College. His father, Tom Goode, previously represented the same electoral district from 1949 to 1957. He was first elected at the Burnaby—Richmond riding in the 1968 general election. After serving his only term, the 28th Canadian Parliament, Goode was defeated in the 1972 election by John Reynolds of the Progressive Conservative party. Goode then became Mayor of Delta, British Columbia Delta is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, as part of Greater Vancouver. Thomas Good (aka Thomas Goode, 1609 – 9 April 1678) was an English academic and clergyman, and Master of Balliol College, Oxford. He is known as a moderate in and orthodox apologist for the Church of England, engaging with Richard Baxter and urging him to clarify a 'middle way'. Thomas Goode is a china, silverware and glass shop at 19 South Audley Street in Mayfair, London. It holds two royal warrants to supply the British royal household, one from Queen Elizabeth II and the other from the Prince of Wales. The company has been owned by property entrepreneur Johnny Sandelson since 2018 and has since expanded its operations into India opening a store and museum in Mumbai. History The shop was established in 1827 by Thomas Goode, and expanded by his son William. The younger Goode travelled extensively to find appropriate porcelain and china for the shop, which resulted in several notable customers including Queen Victoria and the Tsar of Russia. The store moved to its current site in 1845. In 1875 its showroom was redesigned by the architect Ernest George. Thomas Goode snr. JP. (May 1816 – 25 October 1882) (Goode sounds like 'good') was a South Australian merchant closely associated with the Murray River town of Goolwa. History Goode was born in the parish of Thornbury, Herefordshire, England, in May 1816. In 1851 he arrived in South Australia, and in 1852 pitched his tent in Goolwa and shortly afterwards built a wooden general store and dwelling house near where the police station later stood. In those days Goolwa was known as "The Elbow", and Port Elliot as "The Knob", and the few residents were located in huts, the day of houses not having arrived for a locality so far away from the metropolis. Goolwa was at the entrance through the Murray Mouth through which Captain Cadell's steamer the ''Lady Augusta'' made its first trip up the river as far as Swan Hill with Governor Young and party, and from where William Randell in ''Mary Ann'' made the same trip with little fanfare. Thomas Goode (15 April 1835 – 22 July 1926) was a pastoralist in the Colony of South Australia. History Thomas Goode was born at Pigeon House farm, Kyre Magna, near Tenbury, Worcestershire, a son of William and Catherine Goode. From the age of 14 he managed his father's farms, and for two years at Felton Court, the home of his uncle Matthew Goode, who was a successful breeder of Hereford cattle, then left for South Australia on the ''Hope'' with brothers Henry Abel Goode (1838 – 12 February 1921), William (ca.1840 – 28 January 1910) and Benjamin Powell Goode (ca.1841), arriving at Port Adelaide on 19 February 1858. Thomas Goode (October 31, 1787 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia – April 2, 1858 in Bath County, Virginia) was a Virginian physician who purchased the Warm Springs resort in Virginia and helped establish European style hydrotherapies there. Biography Thomas Goode was born in 1787 to Colonel Samuel Goode who was a member of the U.S. Congress from 1799-1801. He was the father of at least seven daughters and two sons. An enthusiastic politician, he was buried near the Hot Springs Hotel. Dr. Goode was acknowledged as "the proprietor during the heyday of the 'Springs Tour'." He was a medical doctor trained in Philadelphia and Edinburgh. He toured the spas of Europe and applied that knowledge to the services he offered at the hot springs, including something he called a Spout Bath, a bath with "three to four inch columns of water pockets falling from a height of six feet" that was directed to massage the desired area of the body."
