Tommy Docherty
Thomas Henderson Docherty (24 April 1928 – 31 December 2020), commonly known as The Doc, was a Scottish football player and manager. Docherty played for several clubs, most notably Preston North End, and represented Scotland 25 times between 1951 and 1959. He then managed a total of 13 clubs between 1961 and 1988, as well as the Scottish national team. Docherty was manager of Manchester United between 1972 and 1977, during which time they were relegated to the Second Division, but promoted back to the First Division as champions at the first attempt. Playing career Club Born in Shettleston Road in Glasgow's east end, Docherty began his playing career when he joined junior football club Shettleston. The turning point in his playing career came in 1946 when he was called up for national service in the Highland Light Infantry. Thomas Docherty (born 28 January 1975) is a British Labour Party politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Dunfermline and West Fife from 2010 until 2015. Early life Before becoming an MP, Docherty was an Account Director with a communications consultancy, having previously worked for Network Rail, BNFL and as a research assistant to Dunfermline West MSP Scott Barrie. Parliamentary career Docherty was elected as the Member of Parliament for Dunfermline and West Fife in the May 2010 general election with a 5,470 majority. In 2011, he was a member of the special Select Committee set up to scrutinise the Bill that became the Armed Forces Act 2011. He was also a member of the Public Bill Committee for the Defence Reform Act 2014. Docherty proposed a Private Member's Bill aimed at banning discrimination against members of the Armed Forces and their families in 2014. Tom Docherty
Tom Docherty (15 April 1924 – 28 December 2020) was an English professional footballer. A winger, he joined Newport County in 1955 from Reading and went on to make 108 appearances for Newport, scoring one goal. In 1958 he joined King's Lynn. He died in December 2020 at the age of 96.
