Thomas Curley (Wisconsin General)
Thomas Curley (May 8, 1825February 24, 1904) was an Irish American farmer, soldier, and Democratic politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Crawford County in the 1883 and 1885 sessions. During the American Civil War, he served as an officer in the Union Army, rising to the rank of brigadier general. Background and military service Curley was born in Tremane, near Athleague in County Roscommon, Ireland, on May 8, 1825, and received a common school education. He immigrated to the United States in 1851, and settled at first in St. Louis, Missouri, where he became an active member and officer of several militia companies. He entered the military service in 1860, as a first lieutenant in the Missouri Volunteer Militia's Southwest Battalion, and served for six months on the frontier of the state. Thomas Curley (born May 16, 1976) is an American production sound mixer. He has won a BAFTA and an Oscar in the category of Best Sound Mixing for ''Whiplash''. Thomas M. Curley was born in Troy, NY, and graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1994. He graduated from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York with a B.A. in Film Studies in 2001. Curley is a member of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 695 since 2003. In 2008, he was inducted into the Cinema Audio Society, and then the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2015. He is currently a contributor to the entertainment website, Screen Radar, which offers film, television and streaming news and reviews, celebrity interviews and blogs. Thomas Curley (born July 6, 1948) is an American businessman and journalist who served as President of the Associated Press, the world's largest news organization. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from La Salle University, where he served as editor in chief of the student newspaper, ''The Collegian'', and was a member of Sigma Phi Lambda fraternity. He earned an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. In 1994, Curley received an Honorary Doctorate from his undergraduate alma mater.
