"This Time I'm in It for Love" is a song recorded by the American rock band Player. It was the second single from their self-titled first studio album. The song was released in early 1978 as the immediate follow-up to their biggest hit and debut single, " Baby Come Back". "This Time I'm in It for Love" spent four months on the US charts, hitting number 10 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and it is ranked as the 58th biggest hit of 1978. The song also reached number 12 in Canada. Earlier versions The song had originally been recorded by Austin Roberts in 1976 and by Cyndi Grecco in 1977 both on the Private Stock Records label. Player is an American musical ensemble, rock band that was formed in the late 1970s. The group scored several US Hot 100 hits, three of which went into the top 40; two of those single releases went top 10, including the No. 1 hit "Baby Come Back (Player song), Baby Come Back", written by group members Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley. Career Player first came together in Los Angeles, California. The original members included Peter Beckett (vocals, guitar), JC Crowley, John Charles "J.C." Private Stock Records was a record label that operated from 1974 to 1978. The label was founded by Larry Uttal after he was ousted from Bell Records. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. Ronald Montague Moss (born March 4, 1952) is an American actor, musician and singer/songwriter, a member of the band Player, and best known for portraying Ridge Forrester, the dynamic fashion magnate on the CBS soap opera ''The Bold and the Beautiful'' from 1987 to 2012. Peter Beckett (born 10 August 1948) is an English musician and songwriter who has written songs for many prominent recording artists, his own bands and solo work, and for several films. He is likely best known as the lead singer and guitarist for 1970s soft rock group Player, which scored a U.S. number one hit in 1977 with " Baby Come Back". Early life Beckett was born in the Aigburth district of Liverpool, England on August 10, 1948. He was influenced by seeing the Beatles perform at the famous Cavern Club. Career At 16, he recorded his first record, "All Night Stand", with a band called 'The Thoughts'. "All Night Stand" was written by Ray Davies from The Kinks. He then joined a band called 'Winston G and The Wicked', later renamed 'Whip'. Cyndi Grecco (born May 19, 1952) is an American singer best-known for performing the theme tune to the popular 1970s American television show ''Laverne & Shirley''. The theme to ''Laverne & Shirley'' was titled "Making Our Dreams Come True," in which Grecco was accompanied by The Ron Hicklin Singers. It was also put out as a single and charted, peaking at no. 25 in the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 of July 4, 1976. The song came out on the small Private Stock Records label (#45086). Grecco was managed by Janna Feliciano, then-wife of José Feliciano, and was a featured performer at the 1977 Sun Bowl. An album followed, though a second disco-themed single, "Dancing, Dancing", failed to chart. Grecco also provided the theme to another 1970s ABC television sitcom, ''Blansky's Beauties''.
