''This Is England '88'' is a 2011 Television in the United Kingdom, British drama miniseries written by Shane Meadows and Jack Thorne (writer), Jack Thorne as a spin-off from the 2006 film ''This Is England''. It is also a sequel to the 2010 television sequel-series ''This Is England '86'', set two and a half years later and starring as previously Thomas Turgoose as Shaun, Vicky McClure as Lol and Joe Gilgun as Woody. Plot Set during Christmas 1988, Lol is haunted by the devastating events that took place This Is England '86, two and a half years before. She and Woody both find themselves struggling to cope with their lives without each other after he leaves the gang. Lol is carrying the burden of her guilt, whilst Woody is trying to build a domestic life with a new girlfriend and a potential promotion at work. Andrew Shim (born 18 August 1983) is an American-born English actor best known for his appearances in the films and TV shows of Shane Meadows, especially '' This Is England'' (2006–2015). Although a United States citizen, he has lived most of his life in Britain since 1989. Early life Shim was born in Miami, Florida, United States to his African-American mother and Chinese father.
