This Afternoon (TV Series)
''This Afternoon'' (stylised as ''THIS afternoon'') is a short-lived Australian news and current affairs television program that was broadcast by the Nine Network. It was produced by the network and broadcast live from 4:30pm to 5:30pm weekdays for two-and-half weeks in mid-2009. The program focused on news, sport, weather and entertainment and featured current affairs reports and interviews. The program was presented by Andrew Daddo, radio presenter and journalist Katrina Blowers and news presenter Mark Ferguson. ''Nine News'' reporters from around the country and overseas provided reports on news and entertainment. On 15 July 2009, the Nine Network cancelled ''This Afternoon'' after 12 airings due to poor ratings. With the demise of ''This Afternoon'', Nine reinstated '' Nine Afternoon News'' (which had been replaced by ''This Afternoon''), followed by ''Antiques Roadshow'' at 5.00pm and '' Hot Seat'' at 5.30pm. Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. ''Antiques Roadshow'' is a British television programme broadcast by the BBC in which antiques appraisers travel to various regions of the United Kingdom (and occasionally in other countries) to appraise antiques brought in by local people (generally speaking). It has been running since 1979, based on a 1977 documentary programme. The series has spawned many international versions throughout Europe, North America and other countries with the same TV format. The program is hosted by Fiona Bruce and it is in its 45th series. The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. ''Nine News'' (stylised ''9News'') is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. Its flagship program is the hour-long 6:00 pm state bulletin, produced by Nine's owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. National bulletins also air on weekday mornings, weekend afternoons and most nights of the week after 10:30pm. Andrew Daddo
Andrew Dugald Daddo (born 18 February 1967) is an Australian actor, author and television and radio personality. Early life Daddo was born in Melbourne on 18 February 1967. He began his education at Mt Eliza Primary School and in year seven moved to Peninsula Grammar. After a short stint at the grammar school, the Daddo family moved away and continued his education at Millburn Junior High in New Jersey, USA. Returning to Australia, Daddo spent the last two and a half years of his schooling at Melbourne Grammar School. Daddo holds an Arts degree from Monash University. Career Andrew Daddo was a co-host of The Factory with Alex Papps, broadcast on ABC TV on Saturday mornings, from 1987 to 1989. He also hosted Countdown Revolution in 1989.
