Thelma Dís Ágústsdóttir
Thelma Dís Ágústsdóttir (born 30 September 1998) is an Icelandic basketball player for Keflavík of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. She played college basketball for Ball State University. Thelma won the Icelandic championship and the Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2017 when she was named the Úrvalsdeild kvenna Domestic Player of the Year. Basketball career Keflavík 2013–2018 Thelma came up through the junior ranks of Keflavík, playing her first games during the 2013–2014 season. In February 2017, she won the Icelandic Cup with Keflavík. She helped Keflavík to win the national championship in 2017, defeating reigning champions Snæfell 3-1 in the finals. In the fourth and deciding game, she had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in Keflavík's 70-50 victory. After the season, she was named the Úrvalsdeild Kvenna Domestic Player of the Year. Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, known as Subway deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. Haukar Women's Basketball
The Haukar women's basketball team, commonly known as Haukar, is the women's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélagið Haukar multi-sport club, based in the town of Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. Recent history On 23 September 2021, Haukar became the first Icelandic women's basketball team to win in a continental competition when it defeated Clube União Sportiva, 81–76, in the first leg of the 2021–22 EuroCup Women qualifiers. In the game, Jana Falsdóttir became the youngest Icelandic female player to play and score in a continental competition, breaking the records of Unnur Tara Jónsdóttir and Ragna Margrét Brynjarsdóttir. The 2020–21 Úrvalsdeild kvenna is the 64th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland. The season started on 23 September 2020. On 7 October, the Icelandic Basketball Association postponed the season for two weeks do to another Coronavirus outbreak in Iceland. It concluded on 2 June 2021 with Valur winning their second title after beating Haukar 3–0 in the Úrvalsdeild finals. Competition format The participating teams first play a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent twice "home" and twice "away" for a total of 28 games. The top four teams qualify for the championship playoffs whilst the bottom team will be relegated to 1. deild kvenna. The Snæfell women's basketball team, commonly known as Snæfell, is the women's basketball department of Ungmennafélagið Snæfell, based in Stykkishólmur, Iceland.
