The Years Of Dreams And Revolt
''The Years of Dreams and Revolt'' () is a Canadian drama film, directed by Jean-Claude Labrecque and released in 1984. A sequel to his 1975 film '' The Vultures (Les Vautours)'', the film revisits the story of Louis Pelletier (Gilbert Sicotte) in the 1960s, from the time of his wedding to Claudette (Anne-Marie Provencher) in 1963 through to the time of the October Crisis in 1970. The cast also includes Monique Mercure, Carmen Tremblay and Amulette Garneau, all reprising their roles as his aunts, as well as John Wildman, Roger Lebel, Lothaire Bluteau, Jean-Guy Bouchard and Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge. The film premiered in the Directors' Fortnight stream at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival, before having its Canadian premiere at the 1984 Toronto International Film Festival. Jean-Claude Labrecque
Jean-Claude Labrecque, (June 19, 1938 – May 31, 2019) was a director and cinematographer who learned the basics of filmmaking at the National Film Board of Canada. Career Jean-Claude Labrecque was born in Quebec City, Quebec, and trained as a camera assistant at the NFB. As a cinematographer, he shot many of the early key films of Claude Jutra (''À tout prendre''), Michel Brault ('' Entre la mer et l’eau douce''), Gilles Carle ('' La vie heureuse de Léopold Z''), Gilles Groulx ('' Le Chat dans le sac'') and Don Owen (''Notes for a Film About Donna and Gail'', '' The Ernie Game''). He turned to directing in 1965 with '' 60 Cycles'', about a long-distance bike race on the North Shore of the St. Lawrence River, which has been described as a virtual encyclopedia of camera techniques. The 6th Genie Awards were held on March 21, 1985, to honour achievements in Canadian cinema in 1984. It was the first time the Genies were broadcast live across Canada by CBC Television, and they drew 1.9 million viewers.
