The Wrld on GCW (stylized as The WRLD on GCW) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event promoted by Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) that was held on January 23, 2022. The event was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, marking the promotion's debut in the Hammerstein Ballroom and the first wrestling event held in the venue since 2019. The event was available on FITE TV and via traditional PPV outlets, making it the first GCW event to air on traditional PPV. 11 matches were contested at the event, including two on the Kickoff pre-show. Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), formerly known as Jersey Championship Wrestling (JCW), is an American independent professional wrestling promotion based in New Jersey. The promotion was originally founded by Ricky Otazu in 1999, it was rebranded under its current name in 2015, after a sale to Danny Demanto and current owner Brett Lauderdale. The promotion specializes in hardcore and "death matches", as well as mixed martial arts-inspired shoot style matches. Matthew Brett Cardona (born May 14, 1985) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to Impact Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). He is best known for his time in WWE, where he performed under the ring name Zack Ryder from 2005 to 2020. William Matthew "Bill" Sierra (born August 11, 1957) is an American former professional wrestling referee and manager better known by his ring name Bill Alfonso. He achieved his greatest success in Extreme Championship Wrestling in the mid-to-late 1990s. Michael Jones (born June 13, 1962), better known by his ring name Virgil (a reference to Dusty Rhodes' given name), is an American former professional wrestler and actor. He is best known for his eight-year tenure in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), primarily as Ted DiBiase's personal assistant. Noah Nelms (born July 30, 1996), better known under the ring name Marko Stunt, is an American professional wrestler and singer best known for his time in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He is also known for his appearances for Game Changer Wrestling and IWA Mid-South. Early life Nelms was born on July 30, 1996, to Lori Nelms and former pastor and missionary Dwyndl Nelms. Growing up Nelms found interest in professional wrestling through his father.
