The Woodlands School (Mississauga)
The Woodlands School is a public elementary and secondary school in Mississauga, Ontario, under the Peel District School Board. It has a diverse student population, with large numbers of students of South and East Asian backgrounds. The school has an English as a Second Language (ESL) program to assist new immigrants, and a Peer Assisted Learning (PALS) program. The school is also a Regional Enhanced Learning Centre for the secondary program. History The Woodlands School was opened in the year 1969. While the first phase of its present building was under construction, classes operated within Springfield Public School building. In September 1970, the students and staff moved to the new building, and The Woodlands became a combined elementary and secondary school. The facility received a major renovation throughout 2016. The Woodlands was a greyhound racing (and later horse racing) track at 9700 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas, from 1989 until 2008. History In 1986, Kansas voters permitted parimutuel betting, setting the idea of the track into action. The track officially opened in 1989 with considerable expectations. Kansas claimed it was the home of greyhounds with the National Greyhound Association operating in Abilene, Kansas which is also the location for the National Greyhound Hall of Fame. It was the first legal gambling outlet in the Kansas City metro area since the 1930s. Attendance spiked the second year with 1.7 million in 1990, however it fell to less than 400,000 by 2000 as the track was subject to a series of scandals and competitive pressure. The Woodlands is a National Historic Landmark District on the west bank of the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. It includes a Federal-style mansion, a matching carriage house and stable, and a garden landscape that in 1840 was transformed into a Victorian rural cemetery with an arboretum of over 1,000 trees. More than 30,000 people are buried at the cemetery. Among the tombstones at Woodlands cemetery is the tombstone of Dr Thomas W. The Woodlands High School is a public high school in The Woodlands CDP, in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas and is a part of the Conroe Independent School District.
