The Week That Wasn't
''The Week That Wasn't'' was an Indian News satire, satirical late night television programme hosted by Cyrus Broacha and shown on the ''CNN-IBN'' (now CNN News18) channel. Started in 2006, the cast included Kaneez Surka, Gopal Datt, Mohit Mahale, and Kunal Vijaykar with occasional appearances by Punit Pania and Ambika Vas. In 2013, a defamation case was filed against Broacha and the team by the Tamil Nadu government over his comments during the show regarding Jayalalithaa's letter to the Prime Minister asking Sri Lankan players not to be allowed in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On the 30 May 2023, Cyrus Broacha announced on his podcast that the show had been canceled by the management at CNN News18. Cyrus further announced there would not be any more shows. Cyrus Broacha
Cyrus Broacha is an Indian anchor, theatre personality, comedian, political satirist, columnist, podcaster and author. He is best known for his show ''Bakra'' on MTV India and '' The Week That Wasn't'' on CNN-News18. Early years Broacha was born on 7 August 1971, to a Parsi father and Catholic mother. He started acting at the age of five in a school play, '' The Emperor's New Clothes''. Every year he performed and wrote for the school magazine, winning prizes for English and drama. Cyrus's family originally hails from Bharuch in Gujarat. Career He did his first professional play, ''Brighton Beach Memoirs'' in 1985, directed by Pearl Padamsee. When Broacha was 15, he acted in his first Hindi film, ''Jalwa'' which was released in 1987. He also worked as a radio jockey and did shows like ''Dial-In Show'' in 1993. ''Fake or Not?'' is a 2020 Indian web show currently hosted by stand-up comedian and Youtuber Inder Sahani. The show is a Flipkart Video original and was launched on Flipkart App on 6 July 2020. Fake or Not is inspired by the United Nations 'Share Verified' campaign and aims to separate real news from fake news.
