''The Wars of the Roses'' was a 1963 theatrical adaptation of William Shakespeare's first historical tetralogy (''Henry VI, Part 1, 1 Henry VI'', ''Henry VI, Part 2, 2 Henry VI'', ''Henry VI, Part 3, 3 Henry VI'' and ''Richard III (play), Richard III''), which deals with the conflict between the House of Lancaster and the House of York over the throne of England, a conflict known as the Wars of the Roses. The Wars Of The Roses
The Wars of the Roses (1455–1487), known at the time and for more than a century after as the Civil Wars, were a series of civil wars fought over control of the throne of England, English throne in the mid-to-late fifteenth century. These wars were fought between supporters of two rival cadet branches of the royal House of Plantagenet: House of Lancaster, Lancaster and House of York, York. The wars extinguished the patrilineality, male lines of the two branches, leading to the Tudors of Penmynydd, Tudor family inheriting the Lancastrian claim to the throne. Following the war, the Houses of Lancaster and York were united, creating Tudor Dynasty, a new royal dynasty and thereby resolving their rival claims. Donald Sinden
Sir Donald Alfred Sinden (9 October 1923 – 12 September 2014) was a British actor. Sinden featured in the film ''Mogambo'' (1953), and achieved early fame as a Rank Organisation film star in the 1950s in films including ''The Cruel Sea (1953 film)'', ''Doctor in the House'' (1954), ''Simba'' (1955), '' Eyewitness'' (1956) and '' Doctor at Large'' (1957). Richard III (2 October 145222 August 1485) was King of England and Lord of Ireland from 26 June 1483 until his death in 1485. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. Edward IV (28 April 1442 – 9 April 1483) was King of England from 4 March 1461 to 3 October 1470, then again from 11 April 1471 until his death in 1483.
