The War (2007 TV Series)
''The War'' is a seven-part United States, American television documentary miniseries about World War II from the perspective of the United States. The program was directed by American Film director, filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, written by Geoffrey Ward, and narrated primarily by Keith David. It premiered on September 23, 2007. The world premiere of the series took place at the Palace Theater in Luverne, Minnesota, one of the towns featured in the documentary. It was funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Joe Medicine Crow
Joseph Medicine Crow (October 27, 1913 – April 3, 2016) was a Native Americans in the United States, Native American writer, historian and Tribal chief, war chief of the Crow Nation. His writings on Native American history and reservation culture are considered seminal works, but he is best known for his writings and lectures concerning the Battle of the Little Bighorn of 1876. Medicine Crow was a World War II veteran, serving as a scout in the 103rd Infantry Division of the US Army. Sidney Clarke Phillips, Jr. (September 2, 1924 – September 26, 2015) was a United States Marine, family practice physician, and author from Mobile, Alabama. He provided source material and interviews for the making of Ken Burns' PBS documentary film '' The War'' and the HBO miniseries '' The Pacific''. His recollections revolve around his time as a young man fighting in the Pacific War. Daniel Ken Inouye ( ; September 7, 1924 – December 17, 2012) was an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States senator from Hawaii from 1963 until his death in 2012.
