The Vintner's Luck (film)
''The Vintner's Luck'' is a 2009 internationally co-produced romantic drama film co-written and directed by Niki Caro. It is loosely based on the 1998 novel by Elizabeth Knox. The film had its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 12 September 2009. The film stars Jérémie Renier, Vera Farmiga, Gaspard Ulliel, and Keisha Castle-Hughes. The film marked the second time Caro worked with Castle-Hughes, a New Zealand actress and Academy Award nominee. Niki Caro
Nikola Jean Caro (born 20 September 1966) is a New Zealand film director and screenwriter. Her 2002 film '' Whale Rider'' was critically praised and won a number of awards at international film festivals. She directed the 2020 live action version of Disney's '' Mulan'', making her the second female and the second New Zealand director hired by Disney to direct a film budgeted at over $100 million. The 34th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada between September 10 and September 19, 2009. The opening night gala presented the Charles Darwin biography ''Creation''. ''The Young Victoria'', based on the early years of Queen Victoria, closed the festival on September 19. About the 2009 Festival TIFF is a non-profit organization whose goal is to change the way people look at the world through film.
