Village
A village is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town (although the word is often used to describe both hamlets and smaller towns), with a population typically ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. Though villages are often located in rural areas, the term urban village is also applied to certain urban neighborhoods. Villages are normally permanent, with fixed dwellings; however, transient villages can occur. Further, the dwellings of a village are fairly close to one another, not scattered broadly over the landscape, as a dispersed settlement. In the past, villages were a usual form of community for societies that practice subsistence agriculture, and also for some non-agricultural societies. Windsor Great Park
Windsor Great Park is a Royal Park of , including a deer park, to the south of the town of Windsor on the border of Berkshire and Surrey in England. It is adjacent to the private Home Park, which is nearer the castle. The park was, for many centuries, the private hunting ground of Windsor Castle and dates primarily from the mid-13th century. Historically the park covered an area many times the current size known as Windsor Forest, Windsor Royal Park or its current name. The only royal park not managed by The Royal Parks, the park is managed and funded by the Crown Estate. Burnside Village is a premium shopping centre located in Glenside Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated in the City of Burnside suburb of Glenside. Village Arcade
The Village Arcade Shopping Center is a shopping center in Rice Village, Houston, Texas owned by Rice University. History The center was developed in phases in the early 1990s. The buildings of the Village Arcade complex were owned by Weingarten Realty while a subsidiary of Rice University owned the land itself. Weingarten had a ground lease with options to renew the center until 2040. David Kaplan of ''Cite'' wrote in 1996 that the development "has become a lightning rod of controversy, representing either the glories or the perils of progress." Kaplan stated that the Rice Village development paralleled the teardowns of smaller older houses and replacements with larger houses in surrounding neighborhoods. In 2014 Rice University announced that it was acquiring the Village Arcade shopping center from Weingarten Realty. Rice University opted to buy Weingarten out of its lease, paying $55–60 million. The Villages, Florida
The Villages is a census-designated place (CDP) in central Florida. It is in Sumter and Marion counties, Florida, United States. It shares its name with a broader master-planned age-restricted community that spreads into portions of Lake County. The overall development lies in central Florida, approximately south of Ocala and approximately northwest of Orlando. As of the 2020 census, the population of the CDP was 79,077. The Villages covers an area of approximately 32 square miles, an area larger than Manhattan, and is expanding mostly to the south of the current community. The Village Shopping Center
The Village Shopping Center is an enclosed shopping mall in Gary, Indiana. Built in 1955, it includes vacant anchors last occupied by Marshalls and US Factory Outlets. History Village Shopping Center opened in 1955. It was expanded in 1958 when Montgomery Ward opened a two-story, 122,965 square foot store. Other tenants included Kresge (later McCrory), and Kroger. The Montgomery Ward store was changed to a closeout format before closing. Goldblatt's moved into the mall in 1985, taking part of the former Montgomery Ward with Aldi taking the rest. J.C. Penney was the last department store to leave the mall, doing so in 1995. It became US Factory Outlets in 1997. It opened in September 1985 with department stores Macy's and Nordstrom, and is owned and operated by Macerich. The Village, Jersey City
The Village is a neighborhood in the western section of Historic Downtown in Jersey City. It is bordered by Hamilton Park and Harsimus Cove to the east and the Turnpike Extension to the west, on the other side of which Jones Park and Mary Benson Park are located. Newark Avenue is the major street across the Village from Grove Street at the east to Bergen Hill at the west. The neighborhood for many years was considered the city's "Little Italy" neighborhood.
