The View (Irish TV Programme)
''The View'' is an Irish television programme broadcast on RTÉ One between 1999 and 2011. Presented by John Kelly, it centred on arts-related topics. It was initially known as ''Later On 2'' and was presented by various presenters until John Kelly joined RTÉ from Today FM, ''Later On 2'' was broadcast on first Network 2 in 1997, it later rebranded as ''The View'', it remained in the same broadcast slot but on RTÉ One until 13 December 2011. ''The View'' featured reviews of books, exhibitions, films, music, theatre and art. There was a varied panel of contributors who offer their opinions including artists, writers, journalists, film-makers and critics. The programme was broadcast each Tuesday night. The program's producer was Angela Ryan and it was directed by Declan Byrne. The show's theme track was "Rodney Yates" by Belfast musician David Holmes. Killinaskully
''Killinaskully'' is an Irish television comedy series which details the bizarre goings-on in a fictitious Irish village called Killinaskully located in the hills of Ireland. It was actually filmed on location in the villages of Killoscully and Ballinahinch in County Tipperary, the title being a fusion of these two placenames. The show's humour comes from the unusual characterisations of traditional, stereotypical rural Irish folk. The show was chiefly written by the comedian, Pat Shortt, who also performed many of his own roles - starring among him were Jack Walsh, Joe Rooney and Páraic Breathnach. It has spawned its own themed holiday in farm accommodation in the Slieve Felim Mountain range region, within walking distance of the village used for filming the series. Duke Special (born Peter Wilson; 4 January 1971) is a songwriter and performer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A piano-based songwriter with a romantic style and a warm, distinctly accented voice, he was previously known for his distinctive long dreadlocks, eyeliner and outfits he describes as "hobo chic". Nowadays, he performs mostly out of makeup and desires to be more like his true self. His live performances have a theatrical style inspired by Vaudeville and music hall, and often incorporate 78s played on an old-fashioned gramophone, or sound effects from a transistor radio. Edward Neil Anthony Hannon (born 7 November 1970) is a Northern Irish singer and songwriter. He is the creator and front man of the chamber pop group The Divine Comedy, and is the band's sole constant member. Hannon wrote the theme tunes for the television sitcoms ''Father Ted'' and '' The IT Crowd''.
