''The Planet Savers'' is a science fantasy novel by American writer Marion Zimmer Bradley, part of her ''Darkover'' series. It was first published in book form in English by Ace Books in 1962, dos-à-dos with Bradley's novel '' The Sword of Aldones''. Darkover is the planet giving its name to the ''Darkover'' series of science fiction-fantasy novels and short stories by Marion Zimmer Bradley and others published since 1958. According to the novels, Darkover is the only habitable planet of seven orbiting a fictional red giant star called Cottman. The Cottman stellar system Bradley describes Cottman's Star as a red giant, around which seven planets orbit. Among these, CottmanIV, known to its inhabitants as Darkover, is the only habitable planet. The three inner planets and two outer planets are not habitable. Lester del Rey (June 2, 1915 – May 10, 1993) was an American science fiction author and editor. He was the author of many books in the juvenile Winston Science Fiction series, and the editor at Del Rey Books, the fantasy and science fiction imprint of Ballantine Books, along with his fourth wife Judy-Lynn del Rey. ''Sharra's Exile'' is a science fantasy novel by American writer Marion Zimmer Bradley. Part of the ''Darkover'', it is a sequel to ''The Heritage of Hastur''. In bookbinding, a dos-à-dos binding ( or , from the French for "back-to-back") is a binding structure in which two separate books are bound together such that the fore edge of one is adjacent to the spine of the other, with a shared lower board between them serving as the back cover of both. When shelved, the spine of the book to the right faces outward, while the spine of the book to the left faces the back of the shelf; the text of both works runs head-to-tail. The dos-à-dos format dates back at least to the 16th century, though they were most common in England in the first half of the 17th century. Sword And Planet
Sword and planet is a subgenre of science fantasy that features rousing adventure stories set on other planets, and usually featuring humans as protagonists. The name derives from the heroes of the genre engaging their adversaries in hand-to-hand combat primarily with simple melée weapons such as swords, even in a setting that often has advanced technology. Although there are works that herald the genre, such as Percy Greg's ''Across the Zodiac'' (1880) and Edwin Lester Arnold's '' Lieut.
