The Song Of Life (1922 Film)
''The Song of Life'' is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by John M. Stahl and starring Gaston Glass, Grace Darmond, and Georgia Woodthorpe.Munden p. 745. Plot As described in a film magazine, Mary Tilden (Woodthorpe) finds life as the wife of a railroad track foreman merely a treadmill of dirty dishes, and even her little baby brings no peace. One day, unable to stand it no longer, she boards an eastbound train that has stopped for water and runs away from it all. The same train had killed her husband on a nearby trestle. Twenty-five years later Mary, worn and tired by her fruitless struggle for the "pretty things" always just beyond her grasp, is still washing dishes. Chance brings her young neighbor David (Glass) to her door in the nick of time, and Mary finds her niche living in his home and doing the housework for him and his young wife Aline (Darmond). Claude Payton
Claude Duval Payton (March 30, 1882 in Centerville, Iowa – March 1, 1955 in Los Angeles, California) was an American actor in many silent films and other films. On stage, Claude Payton toured with the Spooner Stock Company, which was headed by his brother, Corse Payton, and his sister, Cecil Spooner. By 1914, Claude was working at the Thanhouser film producing company in New Rochelle, New York, where he mainly played the roles of villains or lawmen in Western films. Although Claude Payton survived the transition from silent movies to films with sound, in 1935 he was mainly in minor supporting roles in films. Claude retired from the filmmaking business in the mid-1940s. Fred Kelsey
Frederick Alvin Kelsey (August 20, 1884 – September 2, 1961) was an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. Kelsey directed one- and two-reel films for Universal Film Manufacturing Company. He appeared in more than 400 films between 1911 and 1958, often playing policemen or detectives. He also directed 37 films between 1914 and 1920. Kelsey was caricatured as the detective in the 1943 MGM cartoon ''Who Killed Who?'' directed by Tex Avery. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio and died at the Motion Picture Country Home in Hollywood, California Hollywood is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. Edward Peil Sr
Edward J. Peil Sr. (January 18, 1883 – December 29, 1958) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 370 films between 1913 and 1951. Biography Peil was born in Racine, Wisconsin, one of 10 children of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Pell. He attended Racine High School and the University of Notre Dame, studying dramatics, which led to his acting on stage and later in films. His first film was ''Charley's Aunt'' (1906). He had the lead in the first five-reel film, ''Through Fire to Fortune'' (1910). He also acted in the first film that used artificial illumination outdoors at night, the first three-reel color film, and the first Technicolor film. Peil's wife, Henrietta, was an actress. They were married in 1916 in Wabash, Indiana, while both were touring with the Chicago Majestic Theater Stock Company. Peil died in Hollywood, California.
