Peter Benson (actor)
Peter Henry Benson (3 April 1943 – 6 September 2018) was a British actor, best known for his role as Bernie Scripps in the popular ITV television series '' Heartbeat'', a police drama set in the fictional Yorkshire village of Aidensfield during the 1960s. He also had a number of other film and television roles, often playing weak or vacillating characters. Television and theatre Born in Wallasey in Cheshire, the son of schoolmaster Herbert George Benson (1888-1972), who served as a Special Constable during World War II, and Mabel Dorothy (née Lord, 1902-1979), Peter Benson was a talented singer and dancer and an accomplished theatre actor. Victor Winding (30 January 1929 – 9 October 2014) was a British actor born in Lambeth, London. He appeared in "The Faceless Ones", a '' Doctor Who'' serial broadcast from April to May 1967 starring Patrick Troughton in which he played the character called Spencer, an airline pilot at Gatwick Airport, where his identity was taken over by a chameleon. He also appeared in seasons 1-3 of the tv series The Expert from 1968 to 1971 as series regular Det. Chief Inspector Fleming alongside star Marius Goring. Biography Winding was educated at Westminster Technical Institute and initially trained as a draughtsman but acted in amateur dramatics and taught drama at night school. Clive Walter Swift (9 February 1936 – 1 February 2019) was an English actor and songwriter. A classically trained actor, his stage work included performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but he was best known to television viewers for his role as Richard Bucket in the BBC sitcom ''Keeping Up Appearances''. He played many other television and film roles. Life and career Swift was born in Liverpool on 9 February 1936, the son of Abram Sampson Swift, who owned a furniture shop in Bootle, and Lily Rebecca, née Greenman.
