The Robinson family are a fictional family from the Australian television soap opera ''Neighbours''. The family were created by Reg Watson and introduced in the first episode of the serial, broadcast on 18 March 1985. The family initially consisted of Jim Robinson (Alan Dale), his mother-in-law Helen Daniels (Anne Haddy), and his four children Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), Julie Martin (Vikki Blanche), Scott Robinson (Darius Perkins), and Lucy Robinson (Kylie Flinker; Sasha Close; Melissa Bell). The Robinsons have one of the largest and most complex family trees in the show's history. The Robinson family is a fictional family in the children's television series ''Sesame Street''. The family consists of husband Gordon, a high school science teacher, and his wife, Susan, a nurse. Later, the family expands to include their adopted son, Miles, as well as Gordon's sister, Olivia, his father, Mr. Robinson, and a brother. As African Americans, the family was created as leads for the show, originally targeted to underprivileged inner city children. ''The Swiss Family Robinson'' (German: ''Der Schweizerische Robinson'') is a novel by Johann David Wyss, first published in 1812, about a Swiss family of immigrants whose ship en route to Port Jackson, Australia, goes off course and is shipwrecked in the East Indies. The ship's crew is lost, but the family and several domestic animals survive. They make their way to shore, where they build a settlement, undergoing several adventures before being rescued; some refuse rescue and remain on the island. The book is the most successful of a large number of "castaway novels" that were written in response to the success of Defoe's ''Robinson Crusoe'' (1719). Johann David Wyss
Johann David Wyss (; 28 May 1743 – 11 January 1818) was a Swiss author, best remembered for his book ''The Swiss Family Robinson'' (''Der schweizerische Robinson'') (1812). He was born and died in Bern. It is said that he was inspired by Daniel Defoe's ''Robinson Crusoe'', but wanted to write a story from which his own children would learn, as the father in the story taught important lessons to his children. ''The Swiss Family Robinson'' was first published in German in 1812, then translated into English two years later. It has since become one of the most popular books of all time. The book was edited by his son, Johann Rudolf Wyss, a scholar known for writing the Swiss national anthem, ''Rufst du, mein Vaterland''. Another of Wyss's sons, Johann Emmanuel Wyss, illustrated the book. Johann David Wyss outlived his son Johann Rudolf, who had died at the age of 48, dying in 1818 at the age of 74.
