''The Road Goes on Forever'' is the third and final studio album by the American country music Supergroup (music), supergroup The Highwaymen (country supergroup), the Highwaymen. It was released on April 4, 1995, on Liberty Records and reached 45 on the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The title track of this album was written by Robert Earl Keen, Robert Earl Keen, Jr. and originally recorded on his 1989 in country music, 1989 album, ''West Textures''. Reissue The album was re-released on November 8, 2005, on Capitol Records Nashville, Capitol Nashville/EMI with bonus tracks and, in some versions, an extra DVD for the album's 10th anniversary. The DVD includes a music video for "It Is What It Is", as well as a short documentary entitled ''Live Forever - In the Studio with the Highwaymen''. The Highwaymen (country Supergroup)
The Highwaymen were an American country music supergroup, composed of four of country music's biggest artists who pioneered the outlaw country subgenre: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. Between 1985 and 1995, the group recorded three major label albums as The Highwaymen: two on Columbia Records and one for Liberty Records. Their Columbia works produced three chart singles, including the number one "Highwayman" in 1985. Between 1996 and 1999, Nelson, Kristofferson, Cash, and Jennings provided the voice and dramatization for the ''Louis L'Amour Collection'', a four-CD box set of seven Louis L'Amour stories published by the HighBridge Company, although the four were not credited as "The Highwaymen" in this work. Kevin Stephen Welch (August 17, 1955) is an American country music artist. He has charted five singles on the '' Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts and released eight studio albums. John Edwin "Eddy" Shaver (June 20, 1962 - December 31, 2000) was an American country-rock guitar virtuoso, arranger, and songwriter. Biography The son of country artist Billy Joe Shaver, Eddy learned to play guitar at an early age, tutored by Allman Brothers Band guitarist, Dickey Betts, who gave Eddy his first guitar. Billy Joe Shaver (August 16, 1939 – October 28, 2020) was an American outlaw country singer and songwriter, as well as an actor. Biography Shaver was born in Corsicana, Texas, and raised by his mother, Victory Watson Shaver. Until he was 12, he spent a great deal of time with his grandmother in Corsicana, so his mother could work in Waco. He sometimes accompanied his mother to her job at a local nightclub, where he began to be exposed to country music.
