The Return Of The Drifter
''The Return of the Drifter'' is the debut studio album by English rapper Jehst, originally released in 2002 via Low Life Records. The album was produced almost entirely by Jehst, with the exception of the tracks "Alcoholic Author" and "Staircase to Stage" which were produced by Harry Love. Since its release, ''The Return of the Drifter'' has become known as a classic in the UK Hip-Hop scene and is widely regarded as one of the most important UK Hip-Hop albums of all time. It is commonly accepted to include some of Jehst's finest music in terms of both lyrical content and production work. It features largely acclaimed UK Hip-Hop classics such as "High Plains Anthem", "1979", "Staircase to Stage" and "People Under The Weather", which features Asaviour, a longtime collaborator of Jehst (both spent their teens as close friends in Huddersfield). Biography Born in Kent in 1979, Jehst spent his early childhood in Crowborough in Sussex before moving to Huddersfield where he went to Honley High School. After being admitted to the LSE in London for a degree in Social Anthropology & Law, Jehst subsequently dropped out due to an offer of a record deal and an opportunity to set up his own label. His debut release came in 1999 with the ''Premonitions'' EP on YNR Productions, which he co-founded with Leeds hip hop artist, Tommy Evans. Premonitions was recorded in Leeds with Evil Ed on production and featuring a number of early YNR artists such as Tommy Evans, Nmonic, Asaviour, Taharka, Usmaan, Nexus 6. Low Life Records
Joe Christie, better known as Braintax, is a British hip hop artist and producer. Christie had also recorded or appeared under the pseudonyms Brando Flux and Joey Brains. All of his releases were on his own record label, Low Life Records. Originally Braintax was a duo, consisting of Christie and DJ Test, who also contributed vocals and production. Test departed following the 1997 release of the '' Future Years'' EP and Christie retained the Braintax name; it has since become synonymous with him as a solo artist. On the track "Monsoon Funk" on '' Panorama'', Christie explained Braintax means "we can all get busy if we use our brains." Huddersfield
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. Ricochet (russian: Рикошет, born Alexander Yuryevich Aksyonov; September 3, 1964, Leningrad – March 22, 2007, Saint Petersburg) was a Russian singer-songwriter, leader of post-punk band "Obyekt Nasmeshek". Biography The first musical performance was held in 1980 as part of the school band "Rezinovy Rikoshet" (''Rubber Ricochet''). Later it was established an underground group "Crossword", which included fellows of Ricochet. Later he played with several Leningrad punk bands. Jay Mumford (born February 26, 1977), better known by his stage name J-Zone, is an American record producer, drummer, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and writer from New York City. Career Known for his quirky lyrics and trash talk style of rapping, J-Zone released a string of idiosyncratic and critically acclaimed albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s that acquired a cult following. Chester P
Joey Coombes (born 21 June 1976), better known as Chester P, is a rapper in the UK hip-hop scene. He was a founding member of Task Force, Bury Crew and the M.U.D. Family. He and his brother Farma G are both sons of the late musician Peet Coombes. Chester P Hackenbush has a noted style of 'psychedelic' poetry and has a writing style that has fathered many influences since 1993.
