Lambert Harwood Hillyer (July 8, 1893 – July 5, 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. Biography Lambert Harwood Hillyer was born July 8, 1893, in Tyner, Indiana. His mother was character actress Lydia Knott. A graduate of Drake University, Drake College, he worked as a newspaper reporter and an actor in vaudeville and stock theater. During World War I he began working in motion pictures and became a prolific director and screenwriter, working on many silent-era Westerns by William S. Hart, Buck Jones, Tom Mix and others. Often associated with producer Thomas H. Ince, Hillyer expanded into romantic melodramas and crime films in the 1920s. Lee Powell (actor)
Lee Berrian Powell (May 15, 1908 – July 30, 1944) was an American film actor known for leading or other major roles in several serials and B-westerns. He was the first actor to portray The Lone Ranger on film. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in combat on several Pacific Islands, on one of which he died., citing Film career Powell attended the University of Montana with dramatics, football and track as his main interests. Edmund Fessenden Cobb (June 23, 1892 – August 15, 1974) was an American actor who appeared in more than 620 films between 1912 and 1966. Biography Cobb was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of William Henry Cobb and Eddie (Edmundie) Ross. His maternal grandfather, Edmund G. Ross, was a newspaper editor, a governor of the New Mexico territory, a senator from Kansas, and a leader in the abolitionist movement in the United States. Despite his grandfather's efforts to lead Cobb into a career in politics, an initial effort in acting in a locally produced play turned him in that direction for a career. When he was 18, he worked for the St. Louis Motion Picture Company when it made a film in Albuquerque. Other roles with other companies followed. Leonard Miles "Bud" Osborne (July 20, 1884 – February 2, 1964) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 600 films and television programs between 1912 and 1963. Biography Osborne was born Miles Osborne in Knox County, Texas, on February 20, 1884. Osborne attended Oklahoma City schools and was a rancher in Oklahoma's Indian Territory before he became an entertainer. After working with the 101 Ranch Show for five years, he worked with Buffalo Bill's Wild West show for one year in 1912. He became a member of Thomas H. Ince's film company in 1915. Osborne specialized in westerns, and was also noted for his skill as a stage driver, and was thus much in demand from his first film in 1912 right through the early 1950s. Leon Barsha (December 26, 1905 November 13, 1964) was an American film producer, editor and director. As a producer and director he was best known for making films in the Western genre. In his later years he concentrated especially on editing. Personal Barsha was born in Manhattan, New York and died in California. He was married to Helen Barsha. They had a son, Tony, who became a playwright. Granddaughter Lili Barsha is an actor and writer. The North Hollywood home of the Barshas was designed by the architect Richard Neutra in 1937. The house has been restored twice and moved at least once, changing owners several times.
