The Poppies (American Band)
The Poppies were an American 1960s girl group, formed and headed by Dorothy Moore with Petsye McCune and Rosemary Taylor. "Lullaby of Love" was the first 45 single and the group's biggest hit, followed by several more singles including "He's Ready" and "There's a Pain in My Heart." Moore served as the lead singer for the Poppies. The trio lived in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. They met in nearby Clinton at a recording studio where all three were booked as backing vocalists for other artists such as Irma Thomas and Freddy Fender. In early 1966, "Lullaby of Love" by the Poppies peaked at number 56 on the pop charts in the United States, and was number 25 in RPM's Canada. Les Poppys is a French musical group of 17 children founded 1946 in Asnières, France by Jean Amoureux as '' Les Petits Chanteurs d'Asnières'' and renamed to ''Les Poppys'' in 1970. Francois Bernheim, former singer of the group Les Roche-Martin and artistic director for the record company Barclay, discovered the singers in 1970 and decided to create a group called ''Les Poppys'', named after the word 'Pop Music'. Les Poppys originated from the Hippie movement and made songs against the Vietnam War. Seventeen boys from the choir were then selected and recorded their first single: 'Noel 70'. Pop Will Eat Itself are an English alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Stourbridge in the West Midlands of England with members from Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. Initially known as a grebo act, they changed style to incorporate sample-driven indie and industrial rock. Graham Crabb describes their sound as "electronic, punk, alternative hip-hop, hybrid music for fucking, fighting & smoking cigars". Their highest- charting single was the 1993 top-ten hit "Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!".
