The Pink Jungle (1959 Musical)
''The Pink Jungle'' is a 1968 American adventure comedy film directed by Delbert Mann starring James Garner, Eva Renzi, George Kennedy and Nigel Green. "I made this thing for the money and I'm lucky it didn't wreck my career," Garner wrote in his memoir. Plot An American fashion photographer, Ben Morris (James Garner), goes to Guadagil, a remote village in South America, to take pictures of model Alison Duquesne (Eva Renzi) for a lipstick ad. One of the lipsticks is called "Pink Jungle". She arrives soon after Ben does, escorted by Raul Ortega (Michael Ansara) from the tourist board. Within minutes of being landed the helicopter in which they arrived is stolen, leaving Ben and Alison stranded in the village. Ben is hassled by Colonel Celaya (Fabrizio Mioni), a security officer anxious to get a promotion to the capital, who is convinced Ben must be a spy for the American government. Delbert Mann
Delbert Martin Mann Jr. (January 30, 1920 – November 11, 2007) was an American television and film director. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for the film '' Marty'' (1955), adapted from a 1953 teleplay of the same name which he had also directed. From 1967 to 1971, he was president of the Directors Guild of America. In 2002, he received the DGA's honorary life member award. Mann was credited to have "helped bring TV techniques to the film world." Early life and education Delbert Martin Mann Jr. was born on January 30, 1920, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Delbert Mann Sr. and Ora (Patton) Mann (died 1961). George Rose (actor)
George Walter Rose (19 February 1920 – 5 May 1988) was an English actor and singer in theatre and film. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for roles in ''My Fair Lady'' and ''The Mystery of Edwin Drood''. Early life Born in Bicester, Oxfordshire, the son of a butcher, Rose studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. After graduation, he was briefly a farmer and secretary. After wartime service and studies at Oxford, he made his Old Vic stage debut in 1946. Career Rose spent four years with the Old Vic company and made his Broadway debut in a 1946 production of ''Henry IV, Part I'' and continued to play in New York City and London's West End for the remainder of the decade. Natividad Vacío (September 8, 1912 – May 30, 1996) was an American character actor in films and television from the 1950s through the 1980s. Born Natividad Domínguez Vacío in El Paso, Texas, he was Mexican-American. He nearly always played a Hispanic character in his 65 film and television appearances. He was married to Henriqueta (Queta) Vacío. Career His debut came in a 1950 episode of ''The Lone Ranger'' called "Dead Man's Chest". He was featured in ''The Hitch-Hiker'' (1953), a film noir directed by Ida Lupino. Many of his roles were in Westerns, although he had a diverse career. For example, he played a character called "Frank Smith" who was the family gardener in five episodes of the suburban sitcom ''Father Knows Best''. The majority of his work was in television, with an occasional movie role. Robert Anthony Carricart (January 18, 1917 – March 3, 1993) was a French-American film, television and theatre actor. He was known for playing the role of Pepe Cordoza in the American action drama television series '' T.H.E. Cat''. Life and career Carricart was born in Bordeaux. At the age of three, he emigrated to the United States, but he emigrated to Spain at the age of 16. He then went back to the United States, later deciding that if he stayed a little longer, he would've had become a bullfighter. He also thought about becoming a playwright.
