Pilot
An aircraft pilot or aviator is a person who controls the flight of an aircraft by operating its directional flight controls. Some other aircrew members, such as navigators or flight engineers, are also considered aviators, because they are involved in operating the aircraft's navigation and engine systems. Other aircrew members, such as drone operators, flight attendants, mechanics and ground crew, are not classified as aviators. In recognition of the pilots' qualifications and responsibilities, most militaries and many airlines worldwide award aviator badges to their pilots. History The first recorded use of the term ''aviator'' (''aviateur'' in French) was in 1887, as a variation of ''aviation'', from the Latin ''avis'' (meaning ''bird''), coined in 1863 by in ''Aviation Ou Navigation Aérienne'' ("Aviation or Air Navigation"). The term ''aviatrix'' (''aviatrice'' in French), now archaic, was formerly used for a female aviator. These terms were used more in the ear ... I Hear Music (England Dan & John Ford Coley Album)
''I Hear The Music'' is a compilation album of songs by American pop rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, released by A&M Records several years after the various A&M recording sessions. Four songs, "Tell Her Hello", "New Jersey", "Mud and Stone" and "Miss Me", had already been released on the 1970 album ''England Dan & John Ford Coley''. The other songs were recorded around 1970–72 for the album ''Fables'' (1971) or other shelved projects. After showing only minor success in the US with "New Jersey" (number 102) and better results in Japan with "Simone" (number 1), the duo was cut from the A&M roster in 1972. A&M kept testing the market, though, releasing "I Hear the Music" as a promotional single in September 1973. England Dan & John Ford Coley were left without a record company for a few years, but they participated in various projects including two Seals & Crofts albums. After the duo's huge 1976 hit single "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight", released through Big Tree Re ... Neon Golden
''Neon Golden'' is the fifth studio album by German indie rock band The Notwist. It was released on 14 January 2002 by City Slang. Composition ''Neon Golden'' is rooted in the experimental musical style that The Notwist had moved towards on their previous two studio albums '' 12'' (1995) and '' Shrink'' (1998), which found the band eschewing the abrasive rock of their early work and delving into electronic music. The songs on ''Neon Golden'' fuse indie rock and electronic elements, taking influence from styles such as glitch and IDM. ''The A.V. Club'' described the album as a "synthesis of dreamy indie-rock balladry and stark electronic underpinnings", while ''MusicOMH'' critic Dylan Kilby referred to it as a work of "electronic post-rock". Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Neon Golden'' received an average score of 89 based on 20 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". The album was ac ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Pilot (Reuben EP)

Pilot (Mallory Knox EP)
''Pilot'' is the début EP released and produced by the British alternative rock band Mallory Knox. Release After approximately 3 months of writing songs, the band started to play local shows in Cambridge around November. They later recorded this EP at Studio Glasseye with the help of producer Dan Lancaster ( We Are The Ocean, Lower Than Atlantis). The band released the EP on 14 July after gaining more exposure by getting as many people as they could to listen to their songs. Critical reception This EP was met with mostly positive reviews, although not many due to the minor popularity of the band at the time of release. ''Alter The Press!'' stated that the most striking aspect was Chapmans vocals used throughout the album, stating that "''His sultry voice serves as a guide on ‘Oceans’ and never wavers into the more common paper-thin falsetto territory that often sells best.''", the review also consistently states that the EP is of the Pop rock genre, however unlike other ba ... Pilot (Russian Band)
Pilot, also known as PilOt (russian: Пилот, ПилОт) is a Russian rock band from Saint Petersburg, founded by Ilja Knabengof in 1997. History The roots of the band stretch back to 1994, at which point it was called Military Jane. In this incarnation, the band had a raw, melodic grunge style reminiscent of Alice In Chains, and featured Knabengof singing in English. Military Jane released three albums, "Home" (1995) "Home Live '95", and "Blackest Paint Colored Brush" (1996) with limited success. The band's single "Wherry?" although popular, was met with controversy and the music video was banned from MTV. During the "Rock '96" festival in Saint Petersburg, the band performed a new song "Мама" (Mama) for the first time. The style of the song took on a contrasting pop direction, with Knabengof finding an original singing voice. The next year, Military Jane's name was changed to Pilot. In February 1999, the band launch its first official website. In April and May 2022, ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Pilot (band)
Pilot were a Scottish rock group, formed in 1973 in Edinburgh by David Paton and Billy Lyall. They are best known for their songs "January", "Magic", "Just a Smile" and "Call Me Round". Career Paton and Lyall had briefly been substitute members of the Bay City Rollers before that band's breakthrough. Joined by drummer Stuart Tosh, the band recorded several demos during 1972 and 1974 at Craighall Studios, Edinburgh, where Billy Lyall was the resident engineer. They were signed to a management contract with Nick Heath and Tim Heath, sons of British bandleader Ted Heath, and John Cavanagh. In due course they signed to a worldwide recording deal with EMI Records. After the recording of their debut album, ''From the Album of the Same Name'', guitarist Ian Bairnson (who had played on the album as a session musician) joined the band permanently. The 1974 single "Magic" from their first album, produced by Alan Parsons and written by Lyall and Paton, was a No. 11 UK and No. 5 US suc ...
