The Phantom Of Morrisville
''The Phantom of Morrisville'' ( cs, Fantom Morrisvillu) is a Czech comedy film directed by Bořivoj Zeman. It was released in 1966. Plot The movie is a parody on Western mystical thrillers and horror films, in particular—1961 film ''The Pit and the Pendulum''. A musician from the symphony orchestra reads an English thriller novel during the concert, while performing his parts of the Georges Bizet's opera ''Carmen''. The book makes so strong an impression on him that he imagines himself to be the novel's protagonist, Sir Hannibal Morris, an owner of a huge Gothic castle. Then come mysterious murders and disappearances, intrigues, kidnappings, and love. Bořivoj Zeman
Bořivoj Zeman (6 March 1912 – 23 December 1991) was a Czechs, Czech film director and screenwriter. Biography Originally a clerk by profession, he started by writing short film scripts just for himself. His real film work began in 1940's in Hostivař Studios in Prague, as well as in film studios in Zlín, where he worked briefly with Karel Zeman, whom he assisted in directing a 1945 short film ''A Christmas Dream.'' However, he is mainly known for his two comedies ''Dovolená s Andělem'' and ''Anděl na horách'', both starring Jaroslav Marvan in a role of an auditor of Prague public transport companies. In addition to his film comedies, he is also known for his work for children. He made the first movie fairy tale in Czechoslovakia, ''The Proud Princess'', starring Vladimír Ráž and Alena Vránová. Nataša Gollová (27 February 1912 – 29 October 1988) was a Czechoslovak film and stage actress. Life She was born Nataša Hodáčová in Brno on 27 February 1912. Her father was a politician František Xaver Hodáč. She chose her art name after her grandfather, historian Jaroslav Goll. Since her teenage years she studied dance and acting and was part of a dance company. She spoke English, German, French and Russian. In 1932 she met a poet Tristan Tzara in Paris during her ballet company tour. They briefly dated, but Gollová decided to go back to Czechoslovakia. They remained good friends until his death in 1963. Her first acting part was in the film ''The Ideal Schoolmaster'' in 1932. She acted in theatres in Olomouc and Bratislava.
