The People Vs. Jerry Sadowitz
''The People vs. Jerry Sadowitz'' was a late night British TV show which ran from 1998 to 1999 on Channel Five. It featured comedian Jerry Sadowitz talking to members of the public. The idea being that the person Sadowitz found most deserving would win the prize of £10,000. Contestants could talk about any subject they liked except "No politics, no religion!". The show featured a lot of strong language. The programme later went on to become known as ''The Beast of Jerry Sadowitz''. People would have to explain their case until Sadowitz pushed a bell as a sign that they should stop and leave. Channel 5 (UK)
Channel 5 is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel launched in 1997. It is the fifth national terrestrial channel in the United Kingdom and is owned by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American media conglomerate Paramount Global, which is grouped under Paramount Networks UK & Australia division. Jerry Sadowitz
Jerry Sadowitz (born June 1961) is an American-born Scottish stand-up comedian and magician. Notorious for his frequently controversial brand of black comedy, Sadowitz has said that audiences going to see a comedian should suspend their beliefs. He has influenced a generation of comedians, but states that "politically incorrect comedy is no genre: it's me, and it's been ripped off by loads and loads of comics". In 2007, he was voted the 15th-greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's ''100 Greatest Stand-Ups''. In the 2010 list, he was voted the 33rd-greatest stand-up comic. Sadowitz is also widely acclaimed as one of the best close-up magicians in the world and an accomplished practitioner of sleight of hand, having written several books on magic and invented several conjuring innovations. David John Courtney (born 17 February 1959) is an English self-proclaimed former gangster who has become both an author and celebrity.
