The Ocean Race Europe
The Ocean Race Europe is an offshore yacht race around Europe created and run by the organisers of The Ocean Race. Its inaugural edition is the 2021 Ocean Race Europe, which began 25 May 2021 as a three-leg course from Lorient, France to Genoa, Italy. A second edition is planned for 2025 The Ocean Race Europe is planned to take place every four years, with a two-year interval between installments of The Ocean Race Europe and The Ocean Race. This would allow teams to take part in an Ocean Race-related competition every two years. Background In 2018, The Ocean Race was taken under new ownership by The Ocean Race 1973 SLU, a successor company to Atlant Ocean Racing. This ended the twenty-year-long period of ownership of The Ocean Race by the Volvo Group and Volvo Cars, although Volvo was retained as a sponsor and premier partner. Volvo Ocean 65 Vestas 11th Hour Racing
''Vestas 11th Hour Racing'' was a Volvo Ocean 65 class yacht team competing in the 2017–2018 Volvo Ocean Race. It was named after 11th Hour Racing, a program of The Schmidt Family Foundation and its then title sponsors: a wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S. Simeon Tienpont
Simeon Tienpont (born 20 January 1982) is a Dutch sailor who has competed in multiple Volvo Ocean Races and America's Cups. He first participated in the Volvo Ocean Race in 2005-06 aboard '' ABN Amro II''. Tienpont joined Oracle Team USA for the 2010 America's Cup and was a grinder during the 2013 America's Cup. He was allegedly involved in the cheating scandal involving Oracle's America's Cup World Series boats, but was never charged with any offence. He was named the 2013 Dutch sailor of the year. He sailed on board ''Team Vestas Wind'' during the 2014–15 Volvo Ocean Race. ''Team Brunel'' is a Volvo Ocean 65 yacht. She finished 3rd in the 2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race skippered by Bouwe Bekking and navigated by Andrew Cape. Christopher John "Chris" Nicholson (born 18 June 1969) is an Australian sailor who has competed in multiple Summer Olympics and Volvo Ocean Races and has won six World championships. Sailing career In 1992, Chris and his brother Darren won the 505 World Championships in Santa Cruz. The pair also won the 1994 World Championships in Durban and the 2002 World Championships in Fremantle. Nicholson then started competing in the 49er class with Daniel Phillips. Nicholson and Phillips won the 1997 Kiel Week event and then won the 1997 49er World Championships in Perth. Nicholson defended the title twice, winning the 1998 event in Bandol together before Nicholson won the 1999 event in Melbourne with Ed Smyth. Bouwe Bekking (born 17 June 1963) is a Dutch sailor who has sailed in eight Volvo Ocean Races. Born in Deventer, Bekking first sailed the race during the 1985–86 Whitbread Round the World Race, on board '' Philips Innovator''. Yoann Richomme
Yoann Richomme (born 12 July 1983 in Frejus) is a French navigator, sailor and yacht skipper. He is a double winner of the Solitaire du Figaro and won the 2018 and the 2022 Route du Rhum in the Class 40 category. Career Richomme studied as a naval architect at Southampton Solent University, and was later was involved in the development of the Beneteau Figaro 3 yacht. He is seeking to compete in the 2024 Vendée Globe event.
