The Nightmares (professional Wrestling)
The Nightmares were a wrestling tag team consisting of Danny Davis and Ken Wayne. History Danny Davis and Ken Wayne began teaming up as the masked Nightmares in 1981 in Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1982, they went up to Canada to wrestle for Stampede Wrestling. It wasn't until August 1984 when they won their first championship together, the AWA Southern Tag Team Championship, defeating The Rock 'n' Roll Express. They would hold onto the titles for nearly a month, before losing them to Dutch Mantel and Tommy Rich. In 1985, they moved over to the Gulf Coast area to wrestle for Continental Championship Wrestling. In November 1985, they lost their masks to Tommy and Johnny Rich. Together in Continental, they won three NWA Southeastern Tag Team Championships and two NWA Southeast Continental Tag Team Championships. Nightmare Danny Davis
Daniel Briley (born June 30, 1952), better known by the ring name "Nightmare" Danny Davis, is an American retired professional wrestler and referee. He is the founder and former owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling. Career Briley started wrestling in 1977 in the Tennessee territory, where he made a name for himself as "Nightmare" Danny Davis. He would also wrestle as one half of the masked Masters of Terror in the United States Wrestling Association. Davis had a frequent tag team with Ken Wayne in the 1980s. At one time, they wrestled under masks as The Nightmares. The duo also worked under masks as The Galaxians for WCW in the 1990s. Davis also had a brief stint during the latter days of the Central States/Kansas City territory as Tiger Mask, which occurred a few years after Satoru Sayama's tour of the WWF introduced American audiences to the gimmick. CWF Tag Team Championship
The NWA Southeastern Tag Team Championship was the major tag team title in the National Wrestling Alliance's Alabama territory known as Southeastern Championship Wrestling. It existed from 1974 until November 1986, when it became the NWA Continental Tag Team Championship, after SECW changed its name to Continental Championship Wrestling. It became the CWF Tag Team Championship in 1988 when CCW changed its name to the Continental Wrestling Federation. The CWF closed in 1989 and the title was retired. The DSW Tag Team Championship was the tag team championship in Deep South Wrestling, a former developmental territory of World Wrestling Entertainment between 2005 and 2007. Deep South Wrestling (DSW) is a professional wrestling promotion in the state of Georgia. Deep South worked in tandem with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a developmental territory from September 1, 2005, until April 18, 2007. Deep South was owned by Jody Hamilton, former director of the WCW Power Plant. First run (1986–1988) Jody Hamilton and Bill Behrens founded Deep South Wrestling in 1986 as a wrestling promotion and training facility, setting their base of operations in Lovejoy, Georgia. They had ties with both the American Wrestling Association and the National Wrestling Alliance. The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) was a professional wrestling promotion based in Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded when the Memphis-based Continental Wrestling Association merged with the Dallas-based World Class Wrestling Association. History Foundation The USWA was founded as an attempt to create a fourth national promotion, alongside Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW, AWA and the WWF (now known as WWE). Joel Lofton Jones (born April 9, 1957) is an American professional wrestler, better known as Joel Deaton or Joe Deaton. He is most noticed for being one of the members of a tag team in Jim Crockett Promotions known as the Thunderfoots. He was the original Thunderfoot. Career Joel Jones was discovered while working as a personal trainer by Lars Anderson (wrestler), Lars Anderson. Joel was trained by Anderson, who trained him along with David Deaton, who would go on to be his tag team partner. Anderson started his own promotion as a rival to the established Georgia Championship Wrestling, that being World League Wrestling. Global Wrestling Federation was an American professional wrestling promotion based in Dallas, Texas. It started in June 1991 and folded in September 1994. At one time its shows were presented on the ESPN television network. Often the promotion provided programming five days a week, airing at 4 p.m. Eastern. The GWF was the last pro wrestling promotion to be seen on ESPN regularly. Beginning in the mid-1990s, the network began to emphasize talk shows in the mid-afternoon hours, supplanting pro wrestling. Continental Championship Wrestling was a professional wrestling promotion based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Dothan, Alabama from 1985 until 1989, owned by Ron Fuller. Thomas Richardson (born July 26, 1956) is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. He is a one time former National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion and Smoky Mountain Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
