Daniel Birt
Daniel Birt (23 June 1907 – 15 May 1955) was an English language, English film director and editor. Career Birt began his career as an editor in 1932 with an assistant credit on ''The Lucky Number'' and went on to edit 12 films during the 1930s. World War II brought a career hiatus and Birt didn't return to the film industry until the late 1940s. Having worked as supervising editor on ''Green Fingers (1947 film), Green Fingers'' and ''The Ghosts of Berkeley Square'', he was given his first directorial assignment in 1947 - ''The Three Weird Sisters'', a pseudo-Gothic fiction, Gothic tale set in a decaying Welsh mansion. This was followed in 1948 by ''No Room at the Inn'' (co-scripted, like the previous film, by Dylan Thomas), a powerful and unsparing film dealing with child cruelty in an evacuee household during the war. Ballard Berkeley
Ballard Blascheck (6 August 1904 – 16 January 1988), known professionally as Ballard Berkeley, was an English actor of stage and screen. He is best remembered for playing Major Gowen in the British television sitcom ''Fawlty Towers''. Life and career The son of Joseph and Beatrice Blascheck, he was born in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He married Dorothy Long in Liverpool in January 1929. During the 1930s, he performed regularly in the so-called " quota quickies". One of his earliest roles was as the heroic lead in the 1937 film '' The Last Adventurers''. He served as a special constable with the Metropolitan Police during the Second World War, witnessing the Blitz at first hand, including the bombing of the Café de Paris nightclub. Batsford Books is an independent British book publisher. Batsford was founded in 1843 by Bradley Thomas Batsford. For some time it was an imprint of Pavilion Books. Upon the purchase of Pavilion Books by HarperCollins, on 1 December 2021, B. T. Batsford Ltd once again became an independent publishing house, with Pitkin as an imprint. Polly Powell, former owner of Pavilion Books, became the owner of Batsford Books and John Stachiewicz was appointed chairman. Harry Batsford, nephew of the founder Bradley Thomas Batsford, was the chairman but also an author for the company writing at least 11 books on English architecture and countryside (some reprinted into the 21st century). The ''Monthly Film Bulletin'' was a periodical of the British Film Institute published monthly from February 1934 until April 1991, when it merged with '' Sight & Sound''. It reviewed all films on release in the United Kingdom, including those with a narrow arthouse release. Bernard Robinson (production Designer)
Bernard Robinson (born 1912 in Liverpool, England, died 1970) designed sets for several of Hammer's films in their heyday, including ''The Curse of Frankenstein'' (1957), ''Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas'' (1957), ''Dracula'' (1958), '' Curse of the Werewolf'' (1960), ''The Phantom of the Opera'' (1962), '' The Gorgon'' (1964) and '' Quatermass and the Pit'' (1968). He was known for giving the Hammer films a lavish, expensive look while working on a restricted budget. The association ended with his premature death in 1970. Career Bernard Robinson designed some of Hammer's greatest productions. His widow, the puppeteer Margaret Robinson, also worked on many Hammer films.
