The Monkey's Paw (1933 Film)
''The Monkey's Paw'' is a 1933 American pre-Code horror film co-directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack (prologue) and Wesley Ruggles, based on the short story, "The Monkey's Paw" (1902) by W. W. Jacobs. The film was considered lost until pictures from it were posted online in 2016; the extant copy is dubbed in French. Plot It is a story about a monkey's paw using which three wishes can be granted but with negative consequences. Still Mr and Mrs White used it to get what they needed. Wesley Ruggles
Wesley Ruggles (June 11, 1889 – January 8, 1972) was an American film director. Life and work He was born in Los Angeles, California, younger brother of actor Charlie Ruggles. He began his career in 1915 as an actor, appearing in a dozen or so silent films, on occasion with Charlie Chaplin. In 1917, he turned his attention to directing, making more than 50 films—including a silent version of Edith Wharton's novel ''The Age of Innocence'' (1924)—before he won acclaim with '' Cimarron'' in 1931. The adaptation of Edna Ferber's novel '' Cimarron'', about homesteaders settling in the prairies of Oklahoma, was the first Western to win an Oscar as Best Picture. Winter Hall
Winter Hall (21 June 1872 – 10 February 1947) was a New Zealand actor of the silent era who later appeared in sound films. He performed in more than 120 films between 1916 and 1938. Prior to that, he had a career as a stage actor in Australia and the United States. In sound films, he was frequently typecast as a clergyman. Biography Hall was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and died in Los Angeles, California. Hall was married to fellow-New Zealander, Katherine Young, a concert pianist.
