The Mirror (Spooky Tooth Album)
''The Mirror'' is an album by the British rock band Spooky Tooth. It was the only Spooky Tooth album to be released without contributions from Mike Harrison. It also was their last album for nearly twenty-five years, until '' Cross Purpose'' in 1999. ''The Mirror'' was released in October 1974, one month before group members had permanently disbanded. Members went on to form such bands as Foreigner and The Only Ones. Reception In his review for AllMusic, Jason Anderson rates the album four stars out of five, and writes that "Elements of pop and gospel/R&B are all combined into a seamless rock delivery on The Mirror, giving the record a depth that is rare in the Spooky Tooth catalog." In 2000, the album was re-released by Dressed to Kill Records with a completely different cover and imagery, plus a different sequencing of songs, as ''Comic Violence''. Spooky Tooth
Spooky Tooth were an English rock band originally formed in Carlisle in 1967. Principally active between 1967 and 1974, the band re-formed several times in later years. History Prior to Spooky Tooth, four of the band's five founding members had performed in the band Art (formerly known as the V.I.P.'s). Following the dissolution of Art, the members of that band's final line-up (guitarist Luther Grosvenor, vocalist Mike Harrison, drummer Mike Kellie and bassist Greg Ridley) joined forces with American keyboardist/vocalist Gary Wright in October 1967 and formed Spooky Tooth. Wright was introduced to the members of Art by Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records. Their debut, ''It's All About'', was released in June 1968 on Island Records and was produced by Jimmy Miller, who was also behind the boards for Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, the Rolling Stones and Blind Faith. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Bryson Macrae Graham (12 September 1952 – 6 December 1993) was an English people, English rock drummer, most notable as a member of Mainhorse, Spooky Tooth and Girl (band), Girl, and as a session musician. Life and career Bryson Macrae Graham was born to parents Joe Graham and Doreen Graham (née Bywaters), on 12 September 1952. He had an older brother named Raymond. Bryson Graham commenced his professional recording career, at the age of seventeen as a member of Mainhorse Airline, with David Kubinec, Patrick Moraz, and Jean Ristori (late summer 1969 to 1970). Kubinec left, and guitarist Auguste De Antoni was replaced by Peter Lockett; the band's name being shortened to Mainhorse (1970 to mid-1971) who released one album under this name. Ray, Goodman & Brown is an American R&B vocal group. The group originated as The Moments, who formed in the mid-1960s and whose greatest successes came in the 1970s with hits including "Love on a Two-Way Street", "Sexy Mama", and "Look at Me (I'm in Love)". In 1978, they changed their name to Ray, Goodman & Brown and had further hits, including " Special Lady". Splinter (band)
Splinter was an English two-man vocal group from South Shields, England, consisting of Bill Elliott (William Elliott) and Bobby Purvis (Robert J Purvis), who formed in the early 1970s. They were connected with ex-Beatle George Harrison, and had groups of instrumentalists to back them on each album. Splinter was the first act signed to Harrison's Dark Horse Records label, when it was partnered with A&M Records. The band's sound has often been likened to that of The Beatles (particularly George Harrison and John Lennon) and Badfinger. The duo's biggest success came with their debut album, the critically admired '' The Place I Love'' (1974), which contained the hit single "Costafine Town". Mike Patto (born Michael Thomas McCarthy, 22 September 1942 – 4 March 1979) was an English musician, who was primarily notable as lead singer for Spooky Tooth, Patto and Boxer. Life and career Patto was born in Cirencester, England, and first became vocalist and frontman for The Bo Street Runners, who won a TV band competition ''Ready Steady Win'' during 1964. He was a member of Timebox, his own band Patto, and Dick and the Firemen. In 1974, Patto joined Spooky Tooth as vocalist and keyboard player. He was also a founding member of the rock band Boxer. ''Seven's Travels'' is the third studio album by the Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere, their first and only for Epitaph. It was released on September 23, 2003. "Trying to Find a Balance" and "National Disgrace" were released as singles and music videos were made for both. Background The original cover features a naked, bare-breasted woman laying in a field. It was changed to a plain white cover resembling The White Album due to the death of Marissa Mathy-Zvaifler, a 16-year-old girl who was murdered by a janitor during an Atmosphere show in Albuquerque, NM on July 16, 2003. The janitor, convicted child sex offender Dominic Akers, had led the girl backstage, claiming he would allow her to meet vocalist Sean Daley (aka Slug). Atmosphere is an American hip hop duo from Minneapolis, Minnesota, consisting of rapper Slug (Sean Daley) and DJ/ producer Ant (Anthony Davis).
