The Merry Karnowsky Gallery
The Merry Karnowsky Gallery was founded in Los Angeles in 1997 by Merry Karnowsky. It is located on South La Brea Avenue in the Mid-City West district of Central Los Angeles. The gallery exhibits contemporary art, and it is part of the underground " lowbrow" art movement, showing works of pop surrealism and from the street art scene. Exhibitions have included the artists: Shepard Fairey, Camille Rose Garcia, Mercedes Helnwein, Dave McKean, Mark Ryden, Todd Schorr, Edward Walton Wilcox and Kent Williams. In 2007, Karnowsky opened a second gallery in the Mitte district of Berlin, Germany. Andre The Giant Has A Posse
Andre the Giant Has a Posse is a street art campaign based on a design by Shepard Fairey created in 1989 while Shepard attended the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. Distributed by the :wikt:skater, skater community and graffiti artists, the stickers featuring an image of André the Giant began showing up in many cities across the United States. At the time, Fairey declared the campaign to be "an experiment in Phenomenology (philosophy), phenomenology". Over time, the artwork has been reused in a number of ways and has become worldwide. Miss Van (born 1973 in Toulouse, France), also known as Vanessa Alice, is a graffiti and street artist. Miss Van started painting on the street of Toulouse alongside Mademoiselle Kat at the age of 18. Today, she is now internationally known as a street and fine artist. Primarily, her work is marked by the use of unique characters, called ''poupées,'' or dolls. John Edward Mermis (born November 13, 1951), best known by the pseudonym Long Gone John, is an American entrepreneur who is best known for his record label, Sympathy for the Record Industry, and his vinyl toy company, Necessaries Toy Foundation. Junko Mizuno
is a Japanese manga artist. Her drawing style is often termed as ''Gothic kawaii'' or ''kawaii noir'' style. Art style Mizuno's drawing style, which mixes childish sweetness and cuteness with terror and erotica, has often been termed a ''Gothic kawaii'' or ''kawaii noir'' style. However, Mizuno has stated that she does not feel comfortable about those terms, as she doesn't want to label her work with words because it keeps changing and is influenced by many different genres. Mizuno has stated that her work is influenced by shōjo manga works; this influence is exhibited through her use of bright colorization and the large eyes she provides for her characters.
