The Masquerade (album)
''The Masquerade'' (stylized in all lowercase) is the debut studio album by indie pop singer-songwriter Mxmtoon, self-released on September 17, 2019. The album was primarily produced by Cavetown and co-produced by Mxmtoon. "Prom Dress", "High & Dry", "Seasonal Depression", "Blame Game" and "Dream of You" were released as singles. Background Prior to the album's release, Spotify announced the release of ''21 Days'', a music podcast which followed Mxmtoon and Cavetown as they worked on the album in New York City. When asked to describe the album with three words in an interview with Urban Outfitters, Mxmtoon described the album as "sad", "evolved" and "universal". The album was recorded at Shifted Recording Studio in Brooklyn. Mxmtoon
Maia (born July 9, 2000), known professionally as mxmtoon, is an American singer-songwriter and YouTuber. Her music is characterized by emotionally transparent, confessional lyrics, and often employs the ukulele. She released her first EP, ''Plum Blossom'', in 2018; her debut album, '' The Masquerade'', was released in September 2019. This was followed by the twin EPs ''Dawn'' and ''Dusk'' in 2020, and second studio album '' Rising'', which was released on May 20, 2022. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the ''Billboard'' 200 or ''Billboard'' Hot 100. ''All Songs Considered'' is a weekly online multimedia program started in January 2000 by NPR's ''All Things Considered'' director Bob Boilen. At first, the show featured information and streaming audio about the songs used as bumper music on ''All Things Considered''. The program has turned into a source of discovery for new music of all genres. In August 2005, the program began podcasting for free. In 2005, it began webcasting and podcasting live concerts from Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club, including acts such as Animal Collective, The Decemberists, Neko Case, and Tom Waits.
