The Latter Five Poets of the Southern Garden () was a Ming dynasty poetry circle composed of Liang Youyu (梁有誉), Ou Daren (歐大任), Li Minbiao (黎民表), Wu Dan (吴旦), and Li Shixing (李时行). They are generally considered to be the most important Cantonese poets of the sixteenth century. Ming Dynasty
The Ming dynasty (), officially the Great Ming, was an Dynasties in Chinese history, imperial dynasty of China, ruling from 1368 to 1644 following the collapse of the Mongol Empire, Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. Liang Youyu
Liang Youyu (1521–1556) was a Ming dynasty scholar. A native of Shunde (顺德) in Guangdong province, he completed the Jinshi (进士) level of the Imperial Examination in 1550. Ou Daren
Ou Daren (1516–1596) was a Ming Dynasty scholar. He was a native of Chencun (陳村), Shunde in Guangdong province. Becoming an official with the Second-Degree Scholars (優貢), he was appointed at posts such as Assistant of the Imperial College (國子監助教), Officer in Ministry of Work Affairs in Nanjing (南京工部虞衡郎中), etc. He was famous for his poetry, and was one of "The Latter Five Poets of the Southern Garden" (南园后五子), along with Liang Youyu, Li Minbiao, Wu Dan and Li Shixing Li Shixing (); ca.
