The Late Show (1990s Australian TV Series)
''The Late Show'' is a popular Australian comedy sketch and satire show, which ran for two seasons on the ABC. It aired weekly on Saturday nights from 18 July 1992 to 30 October 1993. Cast ''The Late Show'' has its roots in the 1980s comedy group, '' The D-Generation''. Consisting mostly of Melbourne University students, ''The D-Generation'' managed to gain a cult following with their radio and TV appearances. After the breakup of the original '' The D-Generation'', some of the members went on to perform on the commercial TV programme '' Fast Forward''. The remaining members filmed several pilots for what was to be called ''The Late Late Show'' (no relation to the American show) at Channel Nine. These were rejected, and so the group accepted the ABC's offer of a one-hour timeslot on Saturday night. Santo Cilauro
Santo Luigi Cilauro (born 25 November 1961) is an Australian comedian, television and feature film producer, screenwriter, actor, author and cameraman who is also a co-founder of ''The D-Generation''. Known as the weatherman in ''Frontline (Australian TV series), Frontline'', he is also an author and former radio presenter on Triple M, and achieved worldwide fame with the viral video ''Elektronik Supersonik''. Early life Cilauro was born in 1961 in Melbourne, Australia to parents of Italian descent. Cilauro attended Xavier College and the University of Melbourne and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws in 1987. In 1984, while walking to his aunt's house in Melbourne, he stumbled across a Juventus press conference during their tour of Australia, and after seeing coach Giovanni Trapattoni struggle to answer questions in English, used his Italian skills to translate, which resulted in Cilauro becoming the team translator for the rest of the tour. ''All Aussie Adventures'', also known as ''Russell Coight's All Aussie Adventures'', is an Australian mockumentary television series that parodies the travel-adventure genre. Comedian Glenn Robbins plays Russell Coight, a survival and wildlife expert who charts his disastrous travels through Australia, spreading misinformation and causing accidents. The series originally ran for two seasons on Network Ten from 5 August 2001 to 29 September 2002. A telemovie, ''Russell Coight's Celebrity Challenge'', which featured fictional celebrities joining Coight in the outback, aired on 14 November 2004. A third season premiered on 5 August 2018. ''Santo, Sam and Ed's Sports Fever!'' was an Australian sports themed comedy television show hosted by Santo Cilauro, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee. It screened from 30 January to 2 April 2012. It screened live-to-air on 7mate on Monday nights at 8:30 pm and was later replayed the same night on Seven at 11:30 pm. ''Santo, Sam and Ed's Sports Fever!'' was produced by Working Dog Productions, and was filmed in Melbourne.
