The Last Song (Poison Song)
"The Last Song" is a power ballad by American hard rock band Poison. It was the second and final single from their 2000 album, '' Power to the People''. "The Last Song" was one of five new tracks on the half live half studio album, the others being " Power to the People" (first single), "Strange", Can't Bring Me Down" and for the first time on vocals C.C. DeVille sings the track "I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine". The song was released as a single in July 2000 under the bands Cyanide Records. Live performance The song has only been played three times by the band once on the "Power to the People" tour once on the "Glam, Slam, Metal, Jam" Tour and once on the "Hollyweird" tour. Lyrics The lyrics describe lost love; it describes the narrators "last day" and "last song". Poison is an American glam metal band formed in 1983, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The most successful incarnation of the band consists of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Bret Michaels, drummer Rikki Rockett, bassist and pianist Bobby Dall, and lead guitarist and backing vocalist C.C. Richard Allan Ream (born August 8, 1961), better known by the stage name Rikki Rockett, is an American drummer for rock band Poison. The band has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and 15 million records in the United States alone. Biography Richard Allan Ream was born on August 8, 1961, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the youngest of two children of Norman and Margaret Ream. He attended Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill. Before founding Poison with vocalist Bret Michaels, Rockett worked as a hairdresser, lifeguard, dishwasher, emergency medical technician and a suit salesman. In late 1993, Rockett discovered that the then guitarist Richie Kotzen of Poison was having a relationship with Deanna Eve, Rockett's fiancée at the time. Kotzen was fired due to this incident. ''Power to the People'' is an album by the American rock band Poison, released on June 13, 2000 on the band's independent label, Cyanide Music. It marked the return of the original lineup, together for the first time since 1991's '' Swallow This Live'' with the return of C.C. DeVille who replaced Blues Saraceno. The album is a part studio, part live album consisting of five newly recorded studio tracks and 12 live tracks from Poison's successful 1999–2000 greatest hits reunion tour. The album was re-packaged and re-released in 2006 as '' Great Big Hits Live! Bootleg'' without the studio tracks or drum and guitar solos. (Live hits only version) Music and lyrics The title track featured a rap-tinged sound which was influenced by contemporary nu metal and rap metal bands.
