''The Kidnapping of Fux the Banker'' ( cs, Únos bankéře Fuxe) is a 1923 Czech silent comedy film directed by Karl Anton. The film was inspired by the slapstick comedies about the Keystone Cops. Karl Anton
Karl Anton or Karel Anton (25 October 1898 12 April 1979) was a Bohemian-born German film director, screenwriter and film producer. Biography He was born in Prague on 25 October 1898. His father Wilhelm Anton (1861–1918) was a physician. Anton studied medicine, but left the school after his father's death. He started as a stage actor and director in Vienna, Linz and Prague. During the World War I Anton made amateur documentaries with his friends Karel Lamač and Otto Heller. He directed his first movie, a lyrical drama ''Gypsies'', in 1921. Anton is considered an early proponent of Czech lyrical cinema tradition. He founded his own production companies Antonfilm (1923–30) and Sonorfilm (1930–32). After the international success of ''Tonka of the Gallows'' he worked in Paris for Paramount Pictures from 1932 to 1935. After leaving Paramount he moved to Germany in 1935. Přemysl Pražský was an early Czech film director, film actor, screenwriter and radio producer. He directed and appeared in a number of films in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and 1930s, directing comedy films such as '' Two Mothers'' (1921), '' The Mysterious Beauty'' (1922), ''The Countess from Podskalí'' (1926) and '' Prague Seamstresses'' (1929). He is best known for his adaptation of the Josef Hais Týnecký novel ''Battalion'' (1927). He often worked with Theodor Pištěk. Early life and career Pražský was born on 24 July 1893 in Nýřany. He began his studies in 1910 and continued them until 1914. He moved to Prague and began to work in the theater. Saša Rašilov
Saša Rašilov (6 September 1891 – 4 May 1955) was a Czechoslovak film actor. He appeared in 30 films between 1913 and 1954. Rašilov was an actor, comedian, clown and cabaret, grandfather of actor Saša Rašilov Jr. and his brother Vaclav Rašilov, and a longtime member of the drama of the National Theatre in Prague. He came from impoverished aristocratic family. His father, who was the administrator of the noble casinos in Celetná Street, died suddenly in 1901, when Rašilov was ten years old. Only three of twelve siblings of children had survived. The oldest of the sons was a cellist in the orchestra of the German Theatre in Brno, and so Rašilov and her mother moved to Brno. Soon they returned to Prague and lived in Prague's suburb of Zizkov. His mother died in 1909. In 1909 Rašilov trained as a typist and from 1909 to 1914 he worked in Prague.
