''The K Is Silent'' is the debut studio album of the American country music band Hot Country Knights. The band is led by Dierks Bentley (under his alter-ego) and is a parody of country music, specifically 1990s-era country. It was released on May 1, 2020 via Capitol Records Nashville. Content The album includes the lead single "Pick Her Up", a duet with Travis Tritt. Dierks Bentley, who performs on the album in-character as Douglas "Doug" Douglasson, produced the album. Hot Country Knights
Hot Country Knights is an American country music and parody music band formed by country music singer Dierks Bentley in 2015. The band is composed of Bentley and his own road band. Bentley portrays lead singer Douglas "Doug" Douglason, with the other members of his band performing under the names of Trevor Travis (bass guitar), Marty Ray "Rayro" Roburn (lead guitar), Terotej "Terry" Dvoraczekynski (fiddle), Barry Van Ricky (steel guitar), and Monte Montgomery (drums). The members of Bentley's road band have also fashioned fictitious backstories for their musical stage names. In 2020, Capitol Records Nashville, the label to which Bentley is signed, also signed Hot Country Knights. The band is intended to be a satirical tribute to country music of the 1990s. Jim Beavers is an American country music songwriter. Early life and education Jim Beavers grew up in Garland and Jacksonville, Texas. His educational background includes a BBA from Baylor University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. Career Beavers moved to Nashville, TN in 1991 to pursue a career on the business side of music. Pedal Steel Guitar
The pedal steel guitar is a Console steel guitar, console-type of steel guitar with pedals and knee levers that change the pitch of certain strings to enable playing more varied and complex music than any previous steel guitar design. Like all steel guitars, it can play unlimited glissando, glissandi (sliding notes) and deep vibrato, vibrati—characteristics it shares with the human voice. Pedal steel is most commonly associated with American country music and Music of Hawaii, Hawaiian music. Pedals were added to a lap steel guitar in 1940, allowing the performer to play a major scale without moving the Steel bar, bar and also to push the pedals while striking a chord, making passing notes slur or bend up into harmony with existing notes. Keytar
The keytar is a lightweight synthesizer that is supported by a strap around the neck and shoulders, similar to the way a guitar is supported by a strap. Keytars allow players a greater range of movement onstage, compared to conventional keyboards, which are placed on stationary stands or which are part of heavy, floor-mounted structures. The instrument has a musical keyboard for triggering musical notes and sounds. Brett Beavers (born in Waco, Texas), is an American country music songwriter and producer and the co-author of the book ''Something Worth Leaving Behind''. Education and early career Beavers attended Baylor University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education in 1985.
