Clannad () is an Irish band formed in 1970 in Gweedore, County Donegal by siblings Ciarán, Pól Brennan, Pól, and Moya Brennan and their twin uncles The Duggans, Noel and Pádraig Duggan. Initially known as ''Clann as Dobhar'', they shortened their name to Clannad in 1973 after winning the Letterkenny, Letterkenny Folk Festival with the song "Liza". By 1979, they had released three albums and completed a successful US tour. ''Pastpresent'' is a compilation album by Irish folk group Clannad, released in 1989. It is a collection of selected songs recorded by the band from 1982 up to 1989, including two new songs exclusive to this release (until their inclusion on the 2003 remastered edition of ''Sirius'') – " The Hunter" and "World of Difference". Three singles were released to promote the compilation: "The Hunter", " In a Lifetime" (re-issue) and the band's only double A-side " Hourglass"/"Theme from Harry's Game". However, " Hourglass" does not appear on this compilation and was only available as a single until it was included on the 2-disc 1997 Netherlands compilation In a Lifetime: The Ultimate Collection "(BMG 74321 488072)" and then again on the 2020 compilation '' In a Lifetime''. Pól Brennan
Pól Brennan ( ga, Pól Ó Braonáin, ; born 22 April 1956) is an Irish singer, songwriter and producer. He is the brother of Enya, Moya Brennan, Brídín Brennan and Ciarán Brennan. He is a member of the family band Clannad, and co-wrote the hit song "Theme from Harry's Game". He left the group in 1990, but rejoined in 2011. Since the early 1990s, Pól has gained critical acclaim as a solo artist when he joined Japanese musician Joji Hirota and Chinese musician Guo Yue, and released an album, ''Trísan''. The music on this album is a mixture of Celtic and Japanese musical styles. More recently, Pól wrote the soundtrack of the movie ''When the Sky Falls'' (1999) and performed at the 2001 Carnvaha festival in Wexford, Ireland. He also produced music for the 2018 film ''Penance''. He has toured extensively all over the world and is also joined by many popular artists.
