The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (Dennis DeYoung Album)
''The Hunchback of Notre Dame'' is a recording of music written by Dennis DeYoung for his musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame''. The musical was performed at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville to some very positive reviews. This recording was commercially released directly by DeYoung and is an early version of the score, with DeYoung performing all of the male parts and his sister-in-law Dawn Marie performing the female parts. Several songs are related to Styx and solo DeYoung releases. "Beneath the Moon" is a re-worked version of the song by the same name from DeYoung's 1988 ''Boomchild'' album. "Paradise" was later lyrically altered and re-recorded by Styx and released as a studio track on Styx's '' Return to Paradise'' double live album. Dennis DeYoung
Dennis DeYoung (born February 18, 1947) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He was a founding member of the rock band Styx, and served as its primary lead vocalist and keyboardist from 1972 until 1999. DeYoung was the band's most prolific and successful writer, having been credited as the writer of more Styx songs than any other band member. DeYoung penned seven of the band's eight ''Billboard'' top 10 singles as well as a solo top 10 single. Life and career 1947–1970: Early life Dennis DeYoung was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, to parents Maurice and Loraine DeYoung. Styx () is an American rock band from Chicago that formed in 1972 and is best known for melding hard rock guitar balanced with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano, upbeat tracks with power ballads, and incorporating elements of international musical theatre. The band established itself with a progressive rock sound in the 1970s, and began to incorporate pop rock and soft rock elements in the 1980s. ''Boomchild'' is the third solo album from Dennis DeYoung. It was released in February 1989 by MCA Records. ''Boomchild'' featured the title track with a music video but the song was relegated to the B-Side of "Beneath The Moon", the only single. Both the single and ''Boomchild'' failed to chart and the album has since been out of print. "Paradise" is the only single release from Styx's 1997 live double album '' Return to Paradise''. The song was originally written and recorded by Dennis DeYoung for his musical ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame''. Brave New World (Styx Album)
''Brave New World'' is the thirteenth studio album by Styx, released in 1999. It is the band’s first studio album to feature drummer Todd Sucherman, replacing John Panozzo, who died in 1996 and the last album to feature keyboardist/vocalist Dennis DeYoung. This is the last album that bassist Chuck Panozzo is credited as a full-time member, he would continue with the band as a part-time member. The album peaked at #175 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and reached the top 10 on the Top Internet Albums chart. However, its position on the Billboard charts was the lowest from a Styx album of new material since 1973's ''The Serpent Is Rising''.
