''The House That Swift Built'' (russian: Дом, который построил Свифт, Dom, kotoriy postroil Svift) is a 1982 Soviet fantasy comedy film directed by Mark Zakharov based on the eponymous play by Grigori Gorin about Irish satirist writer and Anglican priest Jonathan Swift. Plot A doctor arrives at a mentally unstable house, looking to reveal the truth of a famous writer, Jonathan Swift. Swift is surrounded by actors playing out the life in the house, somehow causing his mental illness and even slightly lost his grip on reality (so do other people think). The summary of this challenging story to comprehend is that the movie is about coping mentally with what is actually going on around you. Mark Anatolyevich Zakharov (russian: Марк Анатольевич Захаров; 13 October 1933 – 28 September 2019) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film director, screenwriter and pedagogue best known for his fantasy parable movies. Vladimir Anatolyevich Fyodorov (russian: Влади́мир Анато́льевич Фёдоров; 19 February 1939 — 18 May 2021) was a Soviet and Russian actor and physicist. Biography In 1964, Fyodorov graduated from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and he joined the Institute of Biophysics, USSR Ministry of Health. Vladimir Fyodorov's profession was nuclear physicist and he was the author of more than 50 scientific works and inventions. Many of his works have been translated into English. He was a student of Igor Kurchatov. Career Fyodorov first appeared on the screen at the age of 32, when film director Aleksandr Ptushko invited the young scientist to play the role of the villain Chernomor in the film ''Ruslan and Lyudmila''. Olegar Fedoro ( ''né'' Olegár Pablo Fedóro; born 6 March 1958) is a Ukrainian-born former Soviet performer who later became a Spanish and then English actor. Semyon Lyvovich Ferdman PAR, better known by his stage name Semyon Farada (russian: Семён Львович Фердман, Семён Фарада, born December 31, 1933, Nikolskoye village of Moscow Oblast, USSR — died August 20, 2009 in Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor. Early life Ferdman was born into the Jewish family of Army officer Lev Ferdman and pharmacist Ida Shuman. His father died when Semyon was 14. Later he tried to pursue a military career but failed the physical test at the Tank Forces School. He applied to Bauman Moscow State Technical University (then MVTU) and barely passed the exams; after three years in the classes he was drafted into the Baltic Fleet where he served for four years. The navy noticed Ferdman's artistic talent and assigned him to the Garrison Theatre in Baltiysk.
