''The Hoax'' is a 1972 American comedy film directed by Robert Anderson (playwright), Robert Anderson, and starring Bill Ewing, Frank Bonner, Jacques Aubuchon, Sharon DeBord, Don Dubbins, Harriet Gibson and Tom Benko. The film was released by All-Scope International on April 19, 1972. Plot Two scheming ne'er-do-wells find a lost nuclear weapon in the ocean near Los Angeles. They decide to light-heartedly try and blackmail the city by asking for money from each citizen. This arouses the attention of the local authorities. Robert Anderson (playwright)
Robert Woodruff Anderson (April 28, 1917 – February 9, 2009) was an American playwright, screenwriter, and theatrical producer. He received two Academy Award nominations for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, for the drama films '' The Nun's Story'' (1959) and ''I Never Sang for My Father'' (1970), the latter based on his play. Life and career Anderson was born in New York City, the son of Myra Esther (Grigg) and James Hewston Anderson, a self-made businessman. He was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, which he later said he found a lonely experience. While there he fell in love with an older woman, an event which later became the basis of the plot of '' Tea and Sympathy''. Frank Bonner
Frank Bonner (born Frank Woodrow Boers Jr.; February 28, 1942 – June 16, 2021) was an American actor and television director widely known for his role as sales manager Herb Tarlek on the television sitcom ''WKRP in Cincinnati''. Personal life Bonner was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Grace Marie "Mamie" (née Dobbins) Boers Delahoussay, a singer, and Frank Woodrow Boers, a saxophonist. He grew up in Malvern, Arkansas. In 1979, Bonner was injured in a parasailing accident at the El Mirage Lake Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area, northeast of Los Angeles. He was approximately in the air, suspended under an ascendancy parachute pulled by a tow vehicle — when a sudden, unexpected gust of wind collapsed the chute, causing him to fall to the lake bed and suffer internal injuries and injuries to his back. Jacques Aubuchon
Jacques Georges Aubuchon (October 30, 1924 – December 28, 1991) was an American actor who appeared in films, stage, and on television in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Aubuchon, who grew up in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was the son of Arthur and Flora Aubuchon. He went to Assumption Preparatory School and served in the US Army during World War II. During his working career, Aubuchon made over 300 television appearances, made two dozen films, did hundreds of television commercials, plus wrote plays. One of Aubuchon's best known roles was as Chief Urulu on ''McHale's Navy''. Aubuchon's first part on Broadway was as the sewerman in ''The Madwoman of Chaillot'' and ''Paris 7000'' was the first television show that he had a regular part on. Aubuchon, who was the father of television writer and producer Remi Aubuchon and father-in-law of Dirk Blocker, died of heart failure at the age of 67. Donald Gene Dubbins (June 28, 1928 – August 17, 1991) was an American film, stage and television actor. Life and career Born in Brooklyn, New York. John Toll
John Toll, (born June 15, 1952) is an American cinematographer and television producer. Toll's filmography spans a wide variety of genres, including epic period drama, comedy, science fiction, and contemporary drama. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement.
