The Hive (2008 Film)
''The Hive'' is an American 2008 science fiction made-for-television film set in Thailand, directed by Peter Manus and written by T. S. Cook. Starring Tom Wopat, Kal Weber and Mark Ramsey, the film follows a group of scientists who must stop a swarm of man-eating ants feeding on the population, but eventually discover that something was controlling the ants. It is the 8th film of the ''Maneater Series'', it premiered on the Syfy channel on February 17, 2008. The film was released to DVD on August 5, 2008. Plot A large swarm of ants arrives on Earth one night, terrorizing many cities and towns. A group of scientists must work together to stop the ants before it is too late. The Hive is a recording studio in North Hollywood, Los Angeles at 5500 Cahuenga Blvd, owned and run by the members of the alternative rock band 311. Origin In 2000, after finishing touring for '' Soundsystem'', the five members of 311 grew distraught with having to pay upwards of $2,000 a day in professional recording studios. Seeking a more independent-style place to work, they found a place in North Hollywood where they could record and pay rent of $3,000 a month. The band soon loaded in two 24 track analog tape machines and Pro Tools technology, fully furnished the place, and began working on their next album. Recordings done at the Hive Prior to 311 purchasing The Hive, it was actively used as a music studio in the 1970s and 1980s. Notable acts such as Missing Persons and Adam Ant have recorded there. The Claremont Colleges (known colloquially as the 7Cs) are a consortium of seven private institutions of higher education located in Claremont, California, United States. The Hive, Singapore
The Hive, also known as Learning Hub South, is a building located in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The S$45 million building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and completed in 2015. Colloquially, the building is known as the "dim sum basket building" due to its likeness to the steamer baskets used to contain dim sum. The Hive was a finalist for the 2015 World Architecture Festival Commercial Mixed-Use Award in the Future Projects subcategory. Architecture Designed by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, The Hive is Heatherwick Studio's first major building in Asia. The building consists of 12 eight-storey towers arranged around a public atrium. The towers taper towards the base and house 56 corner-less classrooms. The Hive, is a large golden-coloured building in Worcester, England, which houses the fully integrated Worcestershire County Council, City of Worcester public library, the University of Worcester's academic library, Worcestershire Record Office, the county Archive and Worcestershire Archaeology Service.
