Nan Blair
Nan Blair (September 28, 1891 – August 15, 1944), born Clyte Cosper, was an American screenwriter and literary agent active primarily during Hollywood's silent era. Personal life Blair was born in Dallas, Oregon, to Otis Cosper and Nettie Niece. Her first husband Joseph Elizalde died in Santa Barbara in 1917, around the time she began writing screenplays in Hollywood. She later married Sheldon Ballinger; their marriage that ended in divorce. Benjamin Dailey was her third husband; they were married until her death in Los Angeles in 1944. Career By 1918, Blair headed up the script-reading department at Triangle Pictures, where she worked on shorts like ''A Dream of Egypt'' and ''A Prince for a Day''. She later headed Palmer Photoplays' manuscript sales department and was affiliated with Zeppo Marx Inc. Her last known credit was on '' This Is the Life'' in 1935. Carl Stockdale
Carl Stockdale also known as Carlton Stockdale (February 19, 1874 – March 15, 1953) was one of the longest-working Hollywood veteran actors, with a career dating from the early 1910s. He also made the difficult transition from silent films to talkies. Stockdale was born in Worthington, Minnesota, graduated from Minneapolis Central High School, and attended the University of North Dakota. Before he began working with films, Stockdale was a property man with a repertory theatrical company headed by his brother. He went on to act on stage in repertory theater and in vaudeville. Stockdale was in Hollywood as early as 1913 with a small role in Gilbert M. Anderson's ''Broncho Billy's Last Deed''. He worked with that film franchise for two years before joining D. W. Griffith's film company. He remained busy into the 1940s. His last film was released in 1943. For this list of lost films, a lost film is defined as one of which no part of a print is known to have survived. For films in which any portion of the footage remains (including trailers), see List of incomplete or partially lost films. Reasons for loss Films may go missing for a number of reasons. One major contributing factor is the common use of nitrate film until the early 1950s. This type of film is highly flammable, and there have been several devastating fires, such as the Universal Pictures fire in 1924, the 1937 Fox vault fire and the 1965 MGM vault fire. Black-and-white film prints judged to be otherwise worthless were sometimes incinerated to salvage the meager scrap value of the silver image particles in their emulsions.
