The God Machine (novel)
''The God Machine'' is a science-fiction novel by American writer Martin Caidin first published in 1968. Set in the near future, the novel tells the story of a top-secret cybernetic technician, Steve Rand, one of the brains behind Project 79, a top-secret US government project dedicated to creating artificial intelligence. Assisted by a security agent and a mathematician, Rand sets out to destroy Project 79 before it is too late. The God Machine (comedic Prop)
This is a list of recurring segments featured on ''The Daily Show''. This list is incomplete for ''The Daily Show with Craig Kilborn'' and ''The Daily Show with Jon Stewart''. During ''The Daily Show''s first ten years, a significant part of its airtime was devoted to different branded recurring segments, usually hosted by the show's correspondents. After the 2005 launch of ''The Colbert Report'', which was largely made up of different recurring segments, the time devoted to such segments on ''The Daily Show'' has declined. Normal commentary segments about ongoing news stories can also have recurring titles to help sort them and talk about continuation. Current segments Your Moment of Zen (July 22, 1996 – present) Your Moment of Zen is a segment that occurs at the end of every show. The segment was introduced when the show began. In it, the host would end the show and a random selection of humorous videos would be shown, usually a clip that relates to one of the topics that ...

''World of Darkness'' is a series of tabletop role-playing games, originally created by Mark Rein-Hagen for White Wolf Publishing. It began as an annual line of five games in 1991–1995, with '' Vampire: The Masquerade'', '' Werewolf: The Apocalypse'', ''Mage: The Ascension'', '' Wraith: The Oblivion'', and '' Changeling: The Dreaming'', along with off-shoots based on these. The series ended in 2004, and the reboot ''Chronicles of Darkness'' was launched the same year with a new line of games. In 2011, the original series was brought back, and the two have since been published concurrently. The games in the series have a shared setting, also named the World of Darkness, which is a dark, gothic-punk interpretation of the real world, where supernatural beings such as vampires and werewolves exist in secrecy. When The Kite String Pops
''When the Kite String Pops'' is the debut album of American heavy metal band Acid Bath. Released on August 8, 1994, it is considered an underground classic, and an early example of sludge metal. The album's artwork is a self-portrait made by notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy while in prison awaiting execution. Cover art The album's cover art is a painting by John Wayne Gacy named "Skull Clown" in which he depicts himself as his clown alter-ego, "Pogo the Clown". The balloons on the lower part contain both his nickname and his real name, J. W. Gacy. The use of artwork by a convicted serial killer caused controversy, with Rotten Records president Ron Peterson defending the decision by saying "It's America—you should be able to do what you want". Acid Bath's follow-up album, ''Paegan Terrorism Tactics'' continued the provocative streak by using artwork created by euthanasia proponent Jack Kevorkian. Themes On the Double Live Bootleg! Frontman Hansi Kürsch feared unforeseeable individual and social consequential damage from the pandemic. "For us, however, it was good from a creative point of view because we were able to take our time. We could think: What do we actually want? It has to represent us and it has to represent the time", Kürsch confirms the influence. "For me it could have been even a bit heavier. During the pre-produ ...

Deus Ex Machina
''Deus ex machina'' ( , ; plural: ''dei ex machina''; English "god out of the machine") is a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem in a story is suddenly and abruptly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence. Its function is generally to resolve an otherwise irresolvable plot situation, to surprise the audience, to bring the tale to a happy ending, or act as a comedic device. Origin of the expression ''Deus ex machina'' is a Latin calque . The term was coined from the conventions of ancient Greek theater, where actors who were playing gods were brought onto stage using a machine. The machine could be either a crane (''mechane'') used to lower actors from above or a riser that brought them up through a trapdoor. Aeschylus introduced the idea, and it was used often to resolve the conflict and conclude the drama. The device is associated mostly with Greek tragedy, although it also appeared in comedies. Ancient examples Aeschylus used the device in his '' Eume ...
